I'd like to be a member of the Joad family from Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath", as it would give me an excuse to be a moaning git. Instead of having to justify my mood to long-suffering colleagues, I could just point at my shoeless feet and gussetless trousers.
The Parr family in The Incredbiles. They are somewhat dysfunctional while they pretend to be who they are not but once they no longer suppress who they are, they gel together as a team. Plus... superpowers! But I have to wonder, given my own childhood of being a single child in a somewhat broken home, what sort of influenced perception I might skew towards in terms of relatable family.
I'd want to be a member of the Skywalker family from Star Wars. Not only are they distinguished, dangerous, intelligent and great with technology, but most of all, they are strong with the Force! Although I'm afraid I would turn to the Dark Side at some point.

Sounds pretty dangerous to me! Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru didn't do too well! Just saying!

If I could be a kid again, I might like to be part of the family in E. Nesbit's classic fantasies "Five Children and It," "The Phoenix and the Carpet," and "The Story of the Amulet," because they always end up having magical adventures. I kept waiting for something like that to happen to me, but no such luck!
I would like to be a part of the Vorkosigan family, but only after Cordelia joined their forces. In spite of all the dangers of the high Vor politics they were exposed to, members of that family have an admirable intelligence and inner strength, and with Cordelia adding the factor of common sense and deep insight, it is absolutely a perfect combination. It would be great to have those genes :)Though it would not be bad to be one of the Koudelkas either - those girls know how to take care of themselves and those in their favour.
I would like to be a part of the Bennett family of Pride and Prejudice fame. They are a hoot and something was always happening to gossip about.
Vorbore, I thought about saying the Vorkosigans, too but then I remembered Miles' grandfather...(shudder). Besides, being a Vorkosigan is a bit like being born with a target on your back.I like the family in Patricia A. McKillip's "the Riddlemaster of Hed." Morgon and his brother and sister are very different people, they argue a lot, they don't always understand each other -- and yet, when the chips are down, they're very protective of each other. They feel very much like real siblings to me, and it's one of the things I've always liked about that book.
To return to kid lit, the Murray family in Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time" & all its sequels have a lot going for them. They're smart, unconventional, not too concerned about fitting in, and all-around good folks. And the most amazing things always happen to them.
