Jenne,
is there a limit to how many "alternatives" people can choose, or could I literally use an alternative shelf every roll.

(*Of course I think there should be a limit to maintain the integrity of the challenge, but I am going to keep that comment to myself)

message 52: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t I hope there isn't a limit since you have no idea where they are on series or if they are a series reader or what mood they are in.

If no limit, then every week, you can literally just read off the alternative lists, what would be the point of rolling the dice?

I suggest if there is 10 week of competition (20 books), then you can use 10 alternatives. so you can you use alternate book once in a week.

message 54: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t rolling the dice moves you along the board - and again everybody doesn't read series and/or may not be on that number so what are they supposed to do? not play that week and make their team lose?

I doubt that there is a single person who signed up who is completely caught up on all their series.
Also, I've read books for challenges that I wasn't in the mood for or would have even picked up. That's what makes these challenges "challenging" . I may not want to read DArk Hunter 11 that particular week, but I will if needed. I don't know...

There's a measure of sacrifice each teammate will have to make for their team. But I will abide with whatever Jenne decides.

I will reread the rules again...

Nika ♥Marie♥ (mylknhoney) | 659 comments I don't know Ezi, that might be kind of hard considering that sometimes you might be too far away from the number to read a series. I am either caught up in my series or on book 1 there is no middle for me.

No sorry, no adding your numbers. Chances are you'll get your chance to read your #8 book lol.

message 59: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments There's no limit on the alternates being used. I don't expect any one to read out of order, I wouldn't do it. Plus not everyone is a series junkie either lol. Your reads aren't going to be hard like they would for WWGRF what's going to be hard is having the whole team done on time twice a week. I totally agree about reading books you're not in the mood for for the sake of a challenge. *shudders* thinking about how many times I'll probably have to read psy-changeling for this game lol. But honestly the difficulty is going to be finished twice a week. Love the pic btw :)

message 60: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t not trying to gang up on you Ezi, but this way it gives every team a chance to win because everyone won't have the same throw on the dice and move the same amount of spaces each time. so here it isn't necessarily the team that reads the fastest wins.

so can a person flip flop between the alternates list and the regular game play when needed or is it strictly one or the other? I'm just trying to make my mind up if I want to play or not and this is kinda my deciding factor :)

message 73: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments You can flip flop as needed.

I never fail to have fun when i'm doing these team challenges, its the great books and people that keep me coming back :D

message 84: by Wanda (new)

Wanda (wanda71) Hi Jenne,

This is my first attempt with this particular team challenge. I have read all the rules and comments--loved all the laughter! I just need clarification and this might sound silly---If I sign up, I will have to read two books (and reviews) each week. Are there any specific rules about reviews such as length, etc. Is is okay to combine with an other challenge such as a monthly challenge--just thinking aloud. Hope you can understand all my questions. Thanks again.

message 85: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments You can definitely combine your reads with other challenges. It will be two books and reviews a week. They'll have to be done by Thursday and Sunday. Here's an example of a review for your read:

Space 24
Read: Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane by Stacia Kane
Finished: 9/27/13
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review:
Blah blah, etc
Doesn't have to be anything fancy. It does need to be more than I liked it.

Thanks, Pat ... but other commitments would interfere with my ability to COMMIT to reading two books a week (even with the alternate plan ... which I'd definitely use).

Tell you what, though. Whatever team you are on ... I'll "play along" on the sidelines to see if I can even keep up. My reads won't count for the team (and I won't hold the team back, either!) ... but I'll let you know at the end how I did.

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Captains when you go to roll the die be sure to adjust it to one die. It will not save it as one it automatically reverts back to 2 when using the link.

I'm not playing but this comment makes me wonder ... I thought there was an earlier discussion about what to do with double digits .... if you only have 1 die you cannot possibly have double digit results ... Hmmmm

It's a game board - you roll the dice to move spaces. The number you land on determines the book # to read - not the die.

message 96: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments You can have a double digit on the space you land on so I asked if we can read the actual double digit number. Because the rules said, for example, if you land on space #23 you can read a 2nd or 3rd in the series.

I asked if we could also just read a book #23 and was told yes. Someone else asked if the 2 numbers could be added together to read a 5th in a series and was told no.

message 97: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments That sums it up perfectly :)

message 98: by [deleted user] (new)

not sure if this was asked already or not but what happens when you land on a number with a zero in it like 10,20,30 etc... I know we can read a 1st, 2nd or 3rd in series book but is there a rule for the Zero? This might be a stupid question but I just wanted to have all my bases covered :D

message 99: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments No Kat it hasn't been brought up and I'm glad you did! If you land on a spot with a zero you can read a stand alone for the zero if you want to.
