Hello all. My name is Shannon Bibby and I am new to goodreads.com. I am a wife and mother of 2, with a full time job and I am about to have my first book released Spring of 2015. Safe Under the Willow is a book that I have put my entire heart and soul into. It's a novel containing many difficult subjects with domestic violence being at the core of it. Hi,I am an author and recently published my debut novel. It focuses on domestic violence in India. Highlights cultural, social and psychological factors which create systems that allow violence against women to occur.
I will be using some profits to fund projects in India and UK to end domestic violence.
I hope to discover new literature in this group. I also hope some readers here would be interested in reading my work some day.

I didn't even realize I was in abusive relationship until I read Dark Confessions of an Extraordinary, Ordinary Woman. It is heartbreaking that so many woman go through similar pain and I appreciate everyone who brings awareness to this serious problem.

One of the findings in my research in India is that over 50% of women in India thought their husband was right to beat them. As a result most women don't realise their relationship is abusive and wrong. I've highlighted this in my book how so much abuse is justified and people ignore it. Hopefully my book will help raise awareness in India and money for projects to end Domestic Violence in India.
I've not read Dark Confessions so will put it on my next to read list. I hope you're better now than you were when you realised you were in an abusive relationship.

Hello! I am an author and a newbie to Facebook groups. This group seems pretty neat so I think I'll try posting here to see if I can make some new reader and writer friends. I love to write. My first book, No Man Sam is about a rape victim finding her voice and an attempt to find true love for the firs time. My upcoming book will touch on the effects of physical abuse on a child. Hello, I'm Richard and I must confess that I knew nothing about the actual reality of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse and stalking, until my Community Association asked me to found and run a free Complementary Therapy Clinic for the residents of a deprived estate, in West Yorkshire, UK and then my eyes were really forced open.
Although I've done a great deal of research, trying to understand why the perpetrators exist and why their victims have so much difficulty leaving their situations, I'm no expert on the subjects, but I have treated survivors and I authored their story for (to me) the most shocking yet inspirational patient I've ever treated- will post it on book suggestions.

My name is Rachel I have two children and was in an emotion, physical, financial, controling marriage and left after almost 4 years of abuse. Went back serveral times and relized things were getting worst and i suffered very bad injures. Now, 2 years later i am now excepting help I am now enrolled in counseling and a domestic volience support group in my area. I am alive thanks to the women i talked to on the National domestic volience hotline. I had tried to get help from a local crisis center and couldn't get anyone to answer the phone and stayed for a while then I felt scared for mine and my childrens safety it was after i left that my husband came after me. I was denied a protection of abuse but was granted a no contact order. (my husband soon to be ex husband) is very charming and also works with the police they all think "he is a great guy and im crazy" I am still dealing with a lot of issues such as trusting, depression, anxiety, fear, and much more thank you for this group.

HI- I have been involved with causes for my whole 38-year career as a Tampa Bay journalist, and have served on the board of a domestic abuse shelter there. My first book was about my own story, published by Rainbow in 1992 and is now out of print. Since then, I have served as a peer counselor and board member at a shelter in Tampa Bay. I have spent many hours with people in this position and am currently involved with a group about to start a similar shelter in Jackson, Tenn. The book I have been writing (off and on) since 2009 is also on this subject- a fictional psychological thriller based on true stories of those I have worked with- especially those whose husbands returned from combat as different people entirely.
