Hi, I've just finished the 1st book in the Julian Kestrel series by Kate Ross; started the 2nd one and am confident that I will thoroughly enjoy next two. Like many others, I was devastated to learn that Kate Ross died before starting book 5. Her Julian Kestrel series would have been another one to add to the mystery series annals of great writers. Do you think another author will take up the reins and get into her imagination to continue the series in much the same way as Jill Paton Walsh did with Dorothy L. Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane series? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this topic.
I really doubt it since there are only 4 books in the series. She didn't have time to get a dedicated following. It is difficult to even find her books except in used book sales.
Her books are now being published by Felony And Mayhem press. They are also now available as e-books as well.
I too was so disappointed to find out the author died young. She was certainly gifted and I loved her books.
