The character Pitt Rivers is based on, Pitt Rivers. He was in the army and got his collection bug after the army asked him to look at guns and make them fire better. The museum was built for him.
i read what i could about him from the internet and choice the bits i liked best and made up the rest.
I have never met him yet, but one day when time travel backwards is possible i hope to.
