Marya May Oh, maybe in Argentina or Spain! But I still love Italy, thanks to Dan Brown

Jason Chapman There's only one way you can go with the Aztecs, Aliens! Brown even mentions Roswell in Inferno.

Dhruv Bhandula I would love it to be based in India. India is a mysterious land full of folklore and fantasies. It would make a great read.

Omar Trinidad Méndez I am from Mexico and I believe that it is not good idea to use the Aztec civilization, I'd prefer the Maya civilization instead.

Any particular reason why? I'm curious.

Well, the Aztec culture was totally vanished. On the other hand, we can find descendants from the Maya civilization nowadays.

In addition, the Maya civilization built more representative cities, not only in the south of Mexico, also in the Central American region. Chichen Itza, for example, which is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Moreover, two Maya cities were discovered recently in the Mexican jungle!

In my opinion, they were better scientists than the Aztec people: they were astronomers (they created a precise calendar, that calendar was the reason of that belief about the end of the world on December 21, 2012), mathematicians (they invented a numeral system with only three symbols, and they included the zero in this system).

To conclude, other things I like to point out is that they were present in the time of the Conquest, they were before than the Aztecs and finally I think that there are more or less the same number of black legends around the Maya civilization.

Do I convinced you Licha?

First, I want to thank you for your reply. I wasn't sure how my question was going to come across. I didn't want it to sound rude. I truly was curious, so I thank you for being so kind to reply.

My curiosity comes from my own ignorance of both cultures. I know the basics but if someone were to ask me about it I'd definitely doubt my answers and I'm sure I'd mix up information on each culture.

You certainly convinced me. Your response was very thorough and I see why you would choose the Mayan over the Aztec culture. Both histories are very interesting and I need to make it my obligation to learn more about my own culture. Once again, thanks for taking the time to enlighten me.

Where are you from? I know a little bit of these cultures because I am from Mexico. I know you was curious. I hope my answer was not rude. LoL.

No, you weren't rude at all. I appreciate you responding. I felt like my question might come across that way and I didn't want to offend anyone.

I am also from Mexico but I have pretty much lived all my life in the U.S. Of course Mexican history is not studied in full depth here so the little I know is always through what I read or may ask my mom about. I feel it's very important to know my heritage but I am guilty of not giving it more time to study it and read about it. That was the reason for my question and you broke down the answer for me wher I could understand it. :)

Shalini Das India has many myths and mysteries and a very diverse culture. Recently Dan Brown did an interview with Ashwin Sanghi(who is often considered the Indian Dan Brown)... So I guess a book on any Indian city is a brilliant idea.

DuyguB It should be a place where history has lots of things to say, so Iran would be a good place.

message 112: by Amit (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amit Srivastava Looking at the love of Dan Brown towards symbols, I would suggest India as the Hindu mythology is filled with unchartered symbols. Who knows, maybe there is a big scientific revelation behind the Om symbol?

Ali Hassan Japan is the best option

Cash'Lion Elud'Ox I would like to see John Langdon and the mysteries native Americans, from Mayans to Eskimos. Also see him doing the mythological adventures of investigating hieroglyphs of "alien astronauts" and explore some into Houston's NASA HQ. That would be an interesting debatable issue. Especially against Langdon's academic flaw/strength of only believing in the facts at hand.
