Erin O'Riordan I like the India idea, but I'd also be intrigued if Langdon were to somehow visit the Forbidden City of China.

Andrea Aguas Egypt.

message 53: by NB (new) - rated it 4 stars

NB India!
we have enough symbols to paralyse anyone.... :)
he'll master them without a doubt... let it be India..

message 54: by Kae (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kae Morgan I'd love to read about Langdon in the Appalachian Mountain Trail and range!

message 55: by Ray (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ray Maybe Peoria, or Umatilla..Would take a lot of research to carry that narrative I'll bet.

message 56: by Lynn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lynn How about if he found Atlantis.

Linda Kelly Basildon, worth a shot.

message 58: by David (last edited Apr 04, 2014 01:51PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

David Kalis I like the Russia idea. Possibly even the former Soviet Union. Dark and mysterious.

message 59: by Jim (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jim Swike The Mayans could be interesting, multiple locations.

message 60: by Riki (new) - rated it 4 stars

Riki Bill Kazakhstan, China, Japan or Israel

ana catarina Africa or maybe India

Kathy Hale I like the idea of an ancient civilization like Assyria or Constaninople or Alexandria. Find some of the missing scrolls of the Library of Alexandria?

Olivia "So many books--so little time."" Ray wrote: "Maybe Peoria, or Umatilla..Would take a lot of research to carry that narrative I'll bet."

Peoria would be a good idea. I live in Peoria, Illinois.

Judith Gash (Balafre) I haven't read all of Dan Brown's books. Is there one set in New Orleans? I think that would be exciting with so many interesting groups of people, the religious experience, music, etc..

Geoffrey In a black hole

Neetu I would love to see him work around symbolism in either India or somewhere in Middle East.

message 67: by Mo (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mo Ha Jerusalem

P. Cookie ASIA. There is a lot of culture around Asia he can toss and "play" around with. Some temple-hunting across Combodia and Thailand. Or spelunking through caves or diving underwater in the Philippines. Won't be so bad...

Sharon L. Sherman Ukraine--with a really good standoff scene against a character that mirrors Putin

Cindy Johnson John wrote: "How bout Russia?"

I like this idea. St. Petersburg could be an awesome city to set a story in. Plus, he could do a lot with the Eastern Orthodox church and throw in some Byzantine history for good measure.

Cindy Johnson Ethiopia. It has an awesome Christian tradition that would make for a really interesting book.

Janice On Mt. Graham in Tucson. Brown could set a covert mission to discover why the Vatican has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on an observatory with an unparalleled telescope named L.U.C.I.F.E.R. $400 million dollars is a bit excessive searching for ET, especially since the Vatican's purposes should spiritual and not temporal. However, Mt Graham is known by the Native Americans in that region as a "gateway" for extra-dimension demonic activity, a doorway to the fallen angels. Near 33 degree parallel.

Licha Janice wrote: "On Mt. Graham in Tucson. Brown could set a covert mission to discover why the Vatican has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on an observatory with an unparalleled telescope named L.U.C.I.F.E.R...."

Interesting. I'd be on board for that book.

Jennifer Robert wrote: "I'd say somewhere international that he hasn't touched on yet. Asia, Greece, India, Russia---all great ideas. Also somewhere in the Middle East, Egypt, or Africa.

Oddly, the first one the popped i..."

i think thats a great one...thanks for mentioning it.i couldnt remember what it was called...

Arjit Anant I want next Dan Brown novel to be set in India, China or Japan. Pakistan will work just fine as use of a terrorist group in the book can make the plot twist even more. North Korea would be interesting too.

message 76: by Earl (new) - rated it 4 stars

Earl II In an insane asylum

Subramanian Let it set be anywhere in the world as long as Dan Brown does not make asses of readers.

message 78: by Tina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Tina Weaver Janice wrote: "On Mt. Graham in Tucson. Brown could set a covert mission to discover why the Vatican has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on an observatory with an unparalleled telescope named L.U.C.I.F.E.R...."

You have a good plot, just write it. Don't wait for DB, you could be the next Dan Brown.

message 79: by Rob (new) - rated it 2 stars

Rob Rowntree I'd like the next Dan Brown book to be set in a decent plot.

message 80: by Panagiota (new)

Panagiota Egypt would be a nice place for a new Robert Langdon's adventure .

message 81: by Laura (new) - rated it 1 star

Laura Herzlos Janice wrote: "Kudos, Jen. He is a charlatan and purposely confounding the truth."

He writes FICTION, not documentaries. In fact, he insisted on this point in an interview with the History Channel. There is no truth to be confused. Fiction means that it's made up, from someone's imagination. As opposed to what you may call truth, if you have evidence to support it.

That said... I didn't really like Dan Brown's style. I think he turned really cool ideas into cheesy books.

Doseofbella The best location...my library.

Danette Fitzgerald MaryJane wrote: "I would like to see a book based on the ancient history and intrigue of Mesopotamia and the history of Babylon. It was a city with ideas much superior to the other civilizations of the time. Also t..."
I'm currently reading a book similar to Dan Brown's based on Marco Polo - it's called the Judas Strain if you're interested.

Danette Fitzgerald Latin America - Mayan, Inca, or Aztec histories. Middle East - Byzantine, Mesopotamian, Egyptian, or Grecian histories. Or China.

Martina Patricia wrote: "I hope he stays in Europe, the art and the religious symbolism from there is much more interesting to me.
It's what I know and grew up learning about, so part of what makes his books interesting to..."

Totally agree! :)

Abhinav Egypt would be cool. i want to know lots of stuff about Egypt other than mummies and pyramids. for providing exposure to the other countries cultures and secrets , i guess south asia would be fun too.

message 87: by Uday (new) - rated it 5 stars

Uday Kanth Rob wrote: "I'd like the next Dan Brown book to be set in a decent plot."

Man, you nailed this one! We really need change. I don't want Langdon to go an adventure with yet another femme fatale this time!

Janice Anywhere but the south.

message 89: by Rob (new) - rated it 2 stars

Rob Rowntree I'd be surprised if it's anywhere else but Europe. His publishers will tell him to write a book just like the last, and he'll do it because it's a money maker. Uday - there'll be a femme fatale - see above.

There's big money to be made in staying with the formula.

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Istanbul would be fascinating.

message 91: by Rob (new) - rated it 2 stars

Rob Rowntree Kellhus wrote: "Istanbul would be fascinating."

That's a great choice.

message 92: by Uday (new) - rated it 5 stars

Uday Kanth But we've already visited Istanbul in the latest book!

message 93: by Rob (new) - rated it 2 stars

Rob Rowntree Uday wrote: "But we've already visited Istanbul in the latest book!"

Haven't read it.

Sukant I would like it to start from the Great Mountains of Himalayas with some Gothic relevance of the European culture and end it in the Mayan and Aztec Ruins of South America.

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

how about Sainte-Marie-sur-mer, in the south of Frane, where gypsies from all over the world meet once a year?

Shailendra Modi I'd like it at any place but shifted in time. Maybe a few thousand years ago.

message 97: by Angela (last edited Oct 20, 2014 05:30AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Angela Nock Russia (maybe with references to the Russian Mafia and their tattoo culture (I love Eastern Promises)), or as Sukant said, in the Mayan and Aztec ruins.

Avishek Bhattacharjee There are good story elements in India and China. He should be next there.

Shailendra Modi Avishek wrote: "There are good story elements in India and China. He should be next there."

Seconded

message 100: by [deleted user] (new)

Well I'd like him to write about Croatia (knowing it probably won't happen)
