Need Help Looking for Some Summer Reads.

Hi everyone,

So, I need some summer reads, preferablly vampire books, I have some books, but I am still wondering and looking for more. I have already read the Twilight saga and I have tried to read the Vampire Chronicles, but for some reason keep stopping.

Anyway vampires are my most favorite mosters/creatures/myths/whatever you wanna call them. And after reading Twilight and all it has renewed my vampire interest. Some of my friends who are girls, are reading vamp books, but the stupid really teen girl ones. Anyway I really am jealous, I have no vamp books to read please help!!!

I'd recommend Salem's Lot by Stephen King

Both Rachel and Rob's suggestions are excellent choices. Also, Garton's Lot Lizards is a good one, too. Although not completely--or traditionally--a vampire novel, Jonathan Maberry's "Pine Deep Trilogy" is very very good, as well. Starts with Ghost Road Blues. Check it out. McCammon's They Thirst is decent, too. I haven't read it yet (on my massive TBR pile) but James Moore's Blood Red sounds intriguing...

May I suggest my new, braided novel, Weird Horror Tales? No vampires, but I think you'll enjoy a format that reades like horror short stories until you've read the book and see they make a novel.

Thanks guys, I'll check into these next time I go to the library or B&N, which will be soon. I'll look at them and tell you what I think.

Also if anyone has any more ideas just post, I'll be doing a lot of reading this summer and need a bunch of books to read.

I'll recommend A Whisper in Blood: a collection of modern vampire stories. Edited by Ellen Datlow
Fall River Press publishes it

Let the Right One In is one of the finest vampire novels. And I hated new stories about vampires before Let the Right One In.

So, I have ordered some books, they should be good. The books are: Live Girls by Ray Garton, Blood Red by James A. Moore, Salem's Lot by Stephen King, Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite, The Golden by Lucius Shepard, They Thirst by Robert McCammon and The Strain by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan.

The last seems very interesting, it's very new. The book as of what I read is about a group of people trying to fight off a vampire epidemic in NYC, to save the world, blah blah, kinda sounds the same as some others, but the thing that really attracted me was one of the authors was the director of Pan's Labirinth, an oscar winning movie. The book is also first in a trilogy so there is more to come and look for.

I was thinking on maybe trying this book for a Pick of the Month read... I don't know though.
