He nodded at the words. "I know..." he hesitated. "And I'm sorry... but I don't remember anything that happened for a year," he said softly, burying his hands in his hair. "And I just don't know what to do."

((Take Two.))Rise worried her lips so she wouldn't cry. She curled her fingers into her palms until her nails bit into her skin. Rise wasn't sure what to say. It was hard knowing he remembered nothing when she remembered it all.
"I'm trying really hard to remember. Even doing exercises," he shook his head with a rueful smile. "I'm sorry," he said softly to Rise. "I don't want to hurt you, but it just feels like we just met."
Rise nodded. She knew that but there was no way to avoid being hurt. Rise wrote on the notebook. You don't remember anything? Or is it just me and Trevor? She didn't want to know but she needed to.
He took the notebook and sighed as he read her words. "I just don't remember anything that happened for the past year. They kind of looked at my brain to know how much time I actually forgot."
Rise nodded absently. An entire year of his life was missing. Rise ran a hand through her hair. A lot happened in a year. Who knows? Maybe this was her fault. She was the one who didn't want to stay at school...
Rise tried to keep her hands from shaking. She wrote slowly. Just at school. We bad one class together. English. Rise choked on a teary laugh as she remembered when they got detention together.
He went over to her to sit next to her, biting his lip. He didn't want her to feel so sad over this, because he really couldn't understand why she was so sad. Had their relationship really been that... that serious? "And... after that?"
A faint smile played on her lips. After that you convinced Trevor not to throw you out a window and took me on a picnic. You brought my favorite candy and I had taught you sign language so we could talk easier, she wrote.
Jason laughed at that. "Throw me out of the window? Was it really that bad?" he smiled slightly and then read on. "I don't remember the sign language though, I'd like to... learn it again."
Maybe that would help. Maybe learning sign language again will help him get his memory back. She nodded lightly. Do you want to know more? she wrote. Rise wasn't doing this for herself. If he wanted to know more, she would tell him. If not, that's fine.
Jason nodded his head at her written words. "Yes please. I just... I want to remember," he smiled softly.
Rise nodded and smiled a little at him. Rise continued on about they're relationship. She hesitated when she got to the part when he... Stayed the night with someone else.
Jason listened to her, intrigued. It did sound like something that could have happened, but it felt so strange... hearing it. It was like someone told him a story, instead of reliving memories. "What is it?" he asked softly, as he saw the hesitation on her face.
Rise worried her lips more and tasted blood again. She wiped off the blood and wrote slowly. You went to a party one night and slept with someone else. She didn't want to upset him.
Jason shook his head. "I really did that?" he grimaced at the thought of sleeping with someone else while he had a girlfriend. Would he really be that awful?
Rise nodded her head. She wanted to curl into him. She hated that he didn't remember and that she couldn't.
"Well, I'm really sorry if that's... well, I'm sorry that I hurt you," he said softly, biting his lip.
Rise didn't know what to say anymore. There was a lot she wanted to say but didn't know how. Rise ran a hand through her hair and stood up. She hated being rude but she needed to get away. She walked to the kitchen and stared out the window, hugging herself.
"Rise, I-" he began, but she had already walked off. He just didn't know what to say. He wanted to comfort her, but he didn't know how. There was this ache in his chest that didn't want to go away.
Rise sunk down against a wall, pressing her face into her knees. She bit her lip to try and muffle the cries.
Jason got up, realizing that he couldn't do this any longer. He really needed to know... what he really felt, without this stupid memory loss. He walked over to the kitchen and knelt by Rise's side. "I'm sorry," he whispered, wiping her tears away. "I just... What can we do to... fix this?"
Rise shook her head. She didn't know. All she could think of was sign language. better than nothing, she thought. Rise realized her notebook and pencil was in the living room and so she signed, hoping it get it.
Jason watched her move her hands around, and suddenly, something clicked in his brain. "Wait... do something like that again. Please just... something that meant something to us..." he trailed off, his gaze fixating on her hands.
Rise frowned and signed again. She signed about herself and why she could make noise but couldn't speak. She didn't want to get her hopes up. The doctor had said it could be years before his memory came back.
Jason watched her and held his breath. Something... there was something... It just... clicked. "I... Rise..." he began, unsurely. "What happened? I... I just... Why did I forget so much?"
Rise bit her lip. Who was talking? Did her Jason not know about the crash? "You were in a bad car crash. Remember?" she signed.
"I.. I know but... Rise... I love you," he spoke out, hesitantly. Then, he shook his head and took her hands in his and looked into her eyes. "I... I do love you. I remember now."
Rise choked on tears and hugged him. She pressed her face into his neck. Jason was back. Rise decided to wait a couple moments before getting his parents. She had never felt so happy.
Jason hugged her back tightly and buried his face in her hair. He was just so confused, but he remembered now. How he loved her and now he remembered her, clearly.
Rise burrowed into him, staying close. She didn't want to let him go. Sighing, Rise pulled away and signed, "We need to tell your parents."
Jason watched as she signed and nodded his head, understanding the signs. "Yes, you're right." He got up and gently helped her up.
Rise went with him upstairs to her brother's office. She held onto his hand, lacing their fingers together. It was a little mean but she was leaving the telling to him.
Jason walked after her, silently following. He had never really been upstairs before, so he had no clue on where to go. When they made it to his parents and her brother, he began to explain.
Trevor practically jumped for joy when Jason said he remembered. Honestly, he was tired of Rise moping around. "I'm glad you can remember, Jason." he said. Rise stood.
"We're glad as well," his mom beamed. "I'm so glad you remeber, son," his father said. Jason smiled. "I'm happy too."
