((yeah.))Rise bit her lip as she walked down the sidewalk by Jason's home. He hadn't been to school in a while. Rise paused before walking up the steps and knocking on the front door.
Jason groaned as he heard the knock on the door. He didn't really want to open it. He got up and walked up to the door, opening it. "Rise?" he mumbled in surprise.
Rise bit her lip and nodded. Can I come in?, she signed.
He nodded and stepped aside, letting out a soft sigh. He knew he had to explain.
Rise quietly stepped inside but didn't go far. She studied him. Her eyes narrowed and head cocked slightly to the side.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" he grumbled, closing the door behind her.
"Well.. that's a long story," he sighed.
Rise looked at her feet. 10 minutes 'til school... Her parents would be pissed. Against her better judgment she signed, Will you tell me?
"Yes, fine," he sighed, gently leading her towards the living room. His parents were gone.
Rise followed but did not sit like he did. She continued to stand.
Jason sat down. "Come and sit, this is heavy shit," he laughed slightly, shaking his head at his words. "Just come here."
Rise sighed softly and sat beside him, drawing her knees up to her chest.
"Well... I have no idea where to start," he admitte.d
Why have you been away from school?, she signed.
"Problems with my family," he said softly.
Rise made a soft noise and nodded slightly.
"My um..."he bit his lip hard. "God this is so complicated... My parents are getting a divorce," he blurted out.
Rise made a sound that, more or less, sounded like an, "Oh..."
"And my mom has cancer," he brought out in a small voice.
Rise's brow furrowed and she placed a tentative hand on his back.
((I'm just making this dramatic *shush* xD ))
"My life is just so complicated and... frustrating right now," he breathed out.
Rise had no idea what to say. I'm sorry., she signed.
He shook his head. "It's not your fault my life sucks."
Rise bit her lip. She stood. Let's get you out of here for a while, she signed. Trying to help him.
"Where to?" He frowned, standing up slowly.
Rise smiled softly. Somewhere special, she signed.
He smiled alightly and nodded, taking her hand in his.
Rise smiled and took him outside. She led him to the back of his house, a shortcut to the park. Rise took him to the forest that edged the park and down a path then veered to the right. She'd brought him to a small lake obscured by trees and bushes.
Jason held her hand in his, following her into the forest and to the lake. "Wow," he mumbled breathlessly.
Rise let go of his hand and sat at the edge of the lake. She played with the water using the tips of her fingers.
Jason sat next to her and smiled. "Do you come here a lot?" He signed.
Rise nodded. Yeah. Its peaceful here. Plus no one else knows about it, she signed back.
"That's good. Gives it more feeling," he signed back, smiling.
Rise nodded in agreement, looking out on the lake.
He followed her gaze a.d let out a content sigh.
Rise sighed softly and pulled her knees up to her chest.
"How did you find this place?" he signed, glancing at her.
Rise shrugged lightly. "I stumbled on it." she signed.
"You did? Well, lucky you," he signed back, chuckling.
He smiled back at her. "So how are you, actually?" he signed.
"Ok. I'm living with Trevor right now but otherwise..." she signed back, slowly.
