Chapter 5 I think (view spoiler)[ now Sookie and bills relationship is getting a bit stronger Sookie decided to confine him about her funny uncle and then finds out the next day that bill went out in the night and killed him I see why you did this what I would have said the same as Sookie because you would feel like you couldn't tell him anything without him going to kill people I know he's doing it for a good base and he just wants to look after Sookie (hide spoiler)]

Not sure who reset this thread, but I'm jumping in! I've had this series on my TBR for a while now.


Ch 2 (25%) - (view spoiler)[ Normally, a naive character like Sookie would totally annoy me, but for some reason I like her. Maybe it is because I feel pity that she has this disability and can rarely be free of it, or maybe it is because I know she won't stay so naive. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 6 (53%) - (view spoiler)[ Ick, Malcolm and his cronies are giving me the creeps, but I don't think they are involved in these murders, especially grandma. I'm still trying to figure out Bill as a character - I kind of get the feeling that he is taking advantage of Sookie (for sex and blood), but I think he is supposed to be impotent with regard to feelings. I am hoping that will change. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 9 (71%) - (view spoiler)[ She sure is consuming a lot of vampire blood. I have no idea who the killer is, but I am wondering if maybe Jason has an ability of his own. Maybe he can block Sookie's telepathy or maybe he is an incubus and that's why all these women flock to him? (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ Ah, so this is how Sookie becomes an investigator to help Bill. Very ominous having Eric floating outside the window too. Makes me curious about book 2!! I had the slightest inkling that the killer might have been Rene, but I dismissed it when he didn't get much page time. It wasn't until Bubba got the tainted cat that I remembered all his strange looks at the beginning of the book. (hide spoiler)]

I can see why this series is so popular. It is not that it is some great literary work, but it is well balanced. The character development is not too strong or too weak - it's just right and is balanced out with just the right amount of dialogue, etc. I like the easy-going writing style too. It's the type of book that doesn't make you think too hard but is entertaining, making for an enjoyable reading experience, a good beach read.

I've already got book 2 downloaded and ready to go.

I don't blame her for feeling like a possession - Eric is lending her out; I still think Bill is using her for sex and blood more than because he has feelings for her; even Andy just sees her as a means to clear his name. I really hope this book gets these jackasses to see her as a person by the end. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 8 (74%) - (view spoiler)[ That's right, girl! You leave his ass there. I'm not sure if she could change the fact that he will kill (after all, it is in his nature), but he didn't even show the basic amount of concern for her well being. Hell, Eric seems to care more and I'm pretty sure he just wants to use her too. I may be turning on Bill officially. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ I'm not sure what to think about that ending. I mean Callisto killing everyone involved with Lafayette's murder?? Seemed like an extreme way to wrap up that plotline, especially since she is gone now too. Also, I'm glad that they at least know the cult is a problem and are already figuring out ways to learn more and gathering allies, etc. I gather that the cult will play a role in future plots. But I'm not all that sure that I am happy that Sookie is back with Bill, and I don't even care that he is related to Andy and Portia. I see that Sookie is reminding him of his humanity, but it seems to be at a snail's pace. I think I am going to be frustrated with him for a while. I just think Sookie is too good for any of the characters at the moment. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 8 (50%) - (view spoiler)[ Um, why does Eric send her on these little missions if he is just going to show up anyway? And will no one even bother to ask the question of WHY Edgington has Bill in the first place and used Lorena to trap him? Seems like an important question. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 12 (79%) - (view spoiler)[ Damn a lot happened in that chapter! I would be happier about Sookie leaving if I had any faith at all that she would keep to it. I mean, he raped her, right? I didn't misunderstand that part, right???? And she really hasn't acknowledged that. RUN GIRL!!! RUN. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ This was all over a vampire phone book! For crying out loud that is so stupid. And Sookie is stupid too because we all know she will give Bill another chance because she is addicted to vampire sex just like the people she pities. She just won't admit it. Damn if I am not hooked on this series though. And I have to wonder if Eric will ever really weasel his way in. I mean gravel on a girl's driveway is no small gift! And sometimes he is more protective of Sookie than Bill is. I might be warming to Eric......but I REALLY hope Alcide sticks around as a character! (hide spoiler)]
