Barb and Misha are so sweet. I'll send you a copy of mine as well, Susan. In fact, how about we do this (if everyone is okay with it):
Anybody who would like to do so, make an extra copy of your shebang for Susan and I will forward the discs to her, just as we did for Heidi a couple rounds back.
So, if this plan seems all right to everybody, you would simply burn 8 copies of your playlist (if you wish to) instead of 7 when sending me your discs, and I'll PM Susan for her address info. Sound good?
Okay. You people are spectacular!!!!I love EVERYBODY'S pants off!!!!!
Yayyyyyyy!!!
Woooooooo!!!!!
::dances around and glomps Shebangers::
Well, I have managed to shortlist my Shebang tunes down to 4 cd's worth... It is going to take some ruthless editing to make Halloween. Happily that means lots of time listening to my drafts on the way :)
I've started on a completely new shebang, because I decided I didn't want chaos but something happy. My mind is already plenty chaotic on its own.
I love your socks off then, Smetches. If I were participating, I would just throw all of my favorite songs I have been listening to currently (minus Shebang ones) onto a disc. Then slap a funky name on it and a silly picture for the art. Dishes, done.
I think I should have my playlist done in a few days. Then it's just the cover and the cut & paste exercise..
Well done, Barb, Heidi, Emily. I'm still working on mine. It's coming along but not quite there yet. I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate a sense of the way things, large and small, always seemed to be going slightly off track in the '70s. It was a time of a lot of experimentation, which of course could be very exciting and creative...but experiments can often go haywire, and in fact they did with some regularity, which gave the era a slight undertone of impending disaster, perceptible even to children.

Of course it may have just been the large and small reference, with Alice being ten feet tall...
White Rabbit is an excellent suggestion, Emily. It would fit my theme, as I'm basically going for anything one might have heard on radio, t.v., or pretty much elsewhere in 1973, not just songs that came out during that calendar year. I remember White Rabbit being a staple of American a.m. radio (including WABC here in New York) all through the early 70's as well as another Jefferson Airplane hit, Don't You Want Somebody to Love: "When the truth is shown to be lies..." I've also been playing around with some odd bits of audio ephemera that conjure up the weirdness of the period...which you'll get a chance to hear soon enough. My playlist is almost done.
Well, my playlist is done and my cover is ready, now I just need to burn my discs and put everything together..
I think mine is gonna be late. Just now got the playlist finalized. I had troubles with this one. :(
When I think of the White Rabbit era I think of songs on the radio on the bus to junior high: We're Going To Get High, High, High, Smokin in the Boy's Room and Garden Party. They boy I was most afraid of on the bus always sang along with Garden Party.
Well it's alright now,
Learned My lesson Well.
If you can't f*ck everyone,
you've
Got to F*ck yourself.
Very sorry to hear it, Heidi. That's really an awful shame. But if you feel you can still be friends, it's probably worth doing. You can't have too many friends in life.
That blows, Heidi! I'm so sorry to hear it!!!At least if you stay friends you'll still get to hear is accent? I want an Irish friend with an accent. That would be cool.
(is that why you were listening to my change the locks shebang?)

That's all before my time.

That's all before my time.
My shebangs are ready to mail. I'll try to mail them before I go on vacation on Monday. If that doesn't work out you might receive a package from Lisbon.
Some shebang frustration to share: no one has the cd covers I need, I've been to seven shops. I may need to order them online at this rate. So I have no chance of making the Halloween deadline, but I hope they won't be too far behind...
No worries, Emily. "The Halloween deadline" may sound ominous--and would be a good title for a horror story--but it was intended more as a target date than anything else. This can be a pretty busy time of year, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have a few delays due to the mails or people's schedules becoming hectic, etc., but it will all come together soon enough. I've finished my playlist. It's not bad, I think--not so much nostalgic as sort of hallucinatory; makes me feel like I'm a kid playing on the floor of my room with a radio playing somewhere in the distance. But I don't know if hearing it will have the same effect for other people. Memory can be such a subjective thing. Also, some of you aren't old enough to remember 1973...
Barb, the dogsled team dropped off your shebangs yesterday. Yours are the first to arrive! Nice looking huskies, by the way. Luckily I had treats on hand.
I'm the biggest delay, if I can't get my covers tomorrow you are all getting the 'creative' version. It is all about the music anyway right?
Jonathan wrote: "Shebangs arrived today from Janine and Smetchie! We've got a lot of early birds this round."PHEW! I made the target date. I was worried for a minute that my perfect record might have been sullied.
Running a little behind down here. I am burning Mini Me's she bangs now.
I just listened to her collection. Interesting.
I just listened to her collection. Interesting.
I have a solution to the cover problem, it does involve jewel cases so fingers crossed none break. I have Monday off so I plan to get my american dollars and pop them in the post then.Gail and I will hopefully make the same-ish kangaroo post and we'll all be shebanging before Xmas :)
Mini-me's shebangs went via Joey post today. She did a good job on the covers, and I love her spiel.
I got my american dollars but missed the post... I'll be able to duck out of work in the next day or two to send everything. Sorry to hold everyone up!

Woooooooooo!!
