Does anybody know of any good fiction writing contests? I'm trying to think of ways to get my name out there, and people have told me that writing contests are a good way to do that. Since I'm low on money, I'd prefer ones that either don't charge more than $20 to enter, or don't have an entry fee at all. Got any suggestions?

The trick is finding one without a fee. Most people charge one. My suggestion would be to either join ReadWave or Writing.com . Both sites offer free memberships and are great ways to get short stories "out there." Writing.com has a number of contests for members, and ReadWave had a weekly contest. I hope this helps!
