I'm from Melbourne and the past 4 months have been an endeavour in rekindling my love for reading. As you can tell from my 2013 reading goal, it's going pretty well :p
I write as well. Mostly fanfiction and fantasy though this year for NaNoWriMo I'm thinking of trying out Science Fiction.
Feel free to add me as a friend, it's always nice to see what other people are reading :) Hope you're all well!

My hubby bought me a kindle for Christmas a couple of years ago and I imagine he regrets that decision because I haven't put it down since! Best present ever I say. It's introduced me to a world of fantastic stories, many book boyfriends and fun new friends.
I read a range of genres but I gravitate towards paranormal, dystopian, new adult and avoid YA and sci-fi. I do love me an alpha male wrapped up in a love triangle :)
As for my celebrity doppelgänger.. I am the spitting of Miranda Kerr ha ha (I wish). I did hear Reece Witherspoon a bit in my younger days but not so much recently unfortunately

I love the nickname! I get 'slim' a bit. Love LOVE boy nicknames for girls :) One of my daughters is 'Bear.' lol. But that's because she looks like a koala

Hi Debbie. I have a few nurse friends-seems like such a difficult job! I was a practice manager for a few medical centres-the longest in a Molescan. I live in Mackay where we have THE highest melanoma rate in the world.
2 boys! I just need one of them. I keep getting girls!
So if you're an emergency ward nurse, do you share my distress for motorcycles? Lol

We like the EXACT same genres. Except maybe sci-fi, I'm iffy with sic-fi.

I have three daughters, 8,4 and 10mo. They drive me batshit crazy but I love them :) My eldest is my step, but I've been her mummy too since she was 1 so there's no distinction between her and 'my' kids for either of us. Her mum lives in Townsville so we drive back and forth allll the time-but this year she's moved in with us for a change and I wasn't prepared to be a school mum just yet so it's hectic!
I'm technically a stay at home mum, but I'm rarely home and if I am I'm cleaning or writing. I never have time for books, movies etc but am slowly trying to find books that take me out of myself again. I'm a karaoke hostess (KJ) and have joined a musical theatre group this year, was the bad girl in Hairspray now a ho in a dinner theatre show. So much fun!
I'm married and hubby and I own a small business. I'm constantly on the go. I read everything I can, no discerning between genres really, I surf, i was an adult competitive cheerleader for 8 years (a flyer) and I LOVE throwing parties!

im a mother of four - 3 girls and 1 boy. Im a part time teacher and most of the time im a little crazy!! ive spent so much time with children that i fear i can no longer string sentences together coherently or socialise! i like writing childrens stories and maybe one day will try young adult too.
i love reading and enjoy young adult, fantasy, thriller, classics and romance too.
people have told me that i look like winona ryder but that was BC - Before Children!!

Nice to meet you Meyrnah! Have you had any published?

Ha Ha Ha Meyrnah, I totally hear you! I said goodbye to the BC version of myself 5 years ago. Even when I do find myself on an outing with friends, without kids, I find myself almost pointing and saying "look a train is going by" or "look the garbage man left the lid open" (my kids are obsessed with the garbage truck)or shortening words.... yesterday I asked the woman at a café for some 'narny bread" Lol
Good reads is my saviour! I can have adult conversations with out being tooo mature if you know what I mean.
Nice to meet you! Although I get frustrated with YA I do love the storylines as well as fantasy and Thriller

no i havent had anything published yet..i'll keep trying though. im hoping to take some time off work next year and really focus on writing

i do try to read more adult books but i always find myself going back to young adult.

Nah!

I have 75% enjoyed The Selection and The Elite by Keira Cass though

When I think Paranormal, I picture anything not of this world not only things that goes bump in the night I have read a few sweet Angel paranormal romances and stories of the Fae but might fave at the moment are mermaids (thanks to S.K's
The Marked Ones
But if your after scary I liked these with strong female leads. Not jump outa your skin scary but definitely heart thumping at times with a hint of romance

You read the infernal devices by Cassandra Clare did you read The mortal instruments? I love that series

I agree that twilight set a high bar and so many 'copycat' books are out there. But in regards to her actual writing I find Stephanie Meyer is not as well written as some others - although I did read the series about three times!

thanks for the recommendations Jen, I will try reading them hopefully. I also really liked The Mortal Instruments and Im annoyed that I've had to wait for so long and still haven't finished the series!! I liked the Infernal Devices better only because it was set in old London and Im a bit of a romantic!

Hi everyone I'm baaaacccckkk from my tropical paradise!
Phrynne is drives me MENTAL how lethal people are about Twilight! Gah! Especially the fans who were fanatic once and now claim to be over it, or the people who set out to read it with their mind made up that it's a joke already. It sold MILLIONS! It broke hearts! It made people crazy happy! What's the point of dogging it, you know?
I don't like Harry Potter but I don't bag it out. It's just not for me.
There's nothing technically incorrect with twilight and it's a wonderfully engaging story. The fact that they sparkle is the launch point for mockery but my god-are we reading an encyclopaedia or a fantasy?
Lol I shouldn't get started...it winds me up so much, lol.
I don't think she's the best writer-but I don't see why she has to be mocked either. If I met SM I would drop to my knees and worship at her feet for bringing the Cullens into the world.
My book is only available as e-book sorry. I'm getting to the print part, but it'll take awhile to find a printer I trust :)

I loved Infernal devices 1 & 2 but just couldn't get into the the 3rd for some reason. I know, we have to wait till march I think for the final Mortal Instruments. I cant even remember what happened at the end of the last one. I think it ended with some angst between Magnus and whats his name. Did you see the movie?? I loved it :)

So jealous S.K! I hope you had a nice break... you've definitely earned it! I hear that region is beautiful! See many coconut trees? *winks*

Yeah I got a pic of one ;)

That's exactly what I did!! I had to re-read the series to get myself back in 'twilight' mode! I even went to all of the midnight screenings of the movies! There's nothing quite like reading Twilight for the first time..
Everyone should be comfortable to say what they feel here. This is what I like about Goodreads; you get a wide variety of opinions, thoughts and feelings about various books and it just goes to show that everyone is different. It's not Facebook where everyone is trying to fit in or be the same as others.

As for the movie, i haven't seen it yet although i would love to. the trailer looked really good.
With book 3 of the infernal Devices, I actually got very emotional and cried at the end; although I was disappointed with the ending!

I am such a Twi-Hard. I'm not constantly on forums or writing fan-fiction or anything but I hold those books, and movies, SO close to my heart. Edward Edward Edward...and The Cullens...they slay me the way Buffy (the show) did.

I think you will find yourself addicted to the Mortal Instruments if you start reading the books as she writes very well. I got stuck at number 5 and it took me ages to read it. I felt like she didn't really need book no.5. But im still hanging out for the last book as I need to know how it ends.

yo! my name's hayley, i live in melbs but i'm originally from the blue mountains in nsw :)
more than ten separate people during high school said i looked like cate blanchett... idk, it's hard to say myself..
i have a pretty wide interest reading-wise, and would read literally anything i can get my hands on. that includes a large amount of fanfiction based both on book and tv series... ahh the hours i've spent on ff.net... :)

Oh and I meant to say earlier, Vampire Academy not Diaries and I'm off topic AGAIN, sorry ;)

I think you do look like Cate Blanchett! A much younger version of course!

Mind you, I think I went during 'crime week' or something, lol. Was less intimidated in NYC.

I'm Rosemary (obviously, haha), aged 19, currently studying at uni. What else? Oh yeah, I'm also from Melbourne.
Celebrity lookalike question I always feel too awkward answering - of course people tell you that you might look like someone, but I never seem to agree. In an ideal world though, it would be great to look along the lines of Vivien Leigh/Kaya Scodalario or anyone I'm currently inspired by fashion-wise (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kristen Bell).
Am I supposed to say something about books here too? I guess that would make sense, haha, seeing as how it is goodreads. I probably should. Favourite book ever, as in life-changing level, is Gone With The Wind. Apart from that, I'd put Harry Potter as my favourite series, not gonna lie. I also have a penchant for a bit of Shakespeare and George Orwell-type stuff, but I'm also a massive fan of the less impressive stuff (that is notably easier to read, let's be honest) - Agatha Christie, Georgette Heyer, Richmal Crompton's William books. In terms of Australian authors, I honestly haven't read a heap, and what I have read is mostly YA. We're talking John Marsden, Melina Marchetta.
Other obsessions: Buffy & Guns 'N Roses. Go figure haha, a bit eclectic.

wow! you've got quite a variety of favourites there. I remember reading 'Gone With the Wind' back when I was in high school - a very long time ago now that i'm starting to doubt that such a time existed in my life... Well I loved that story too, it was my all time favourite for a while until I read "The Power of One".

Goodreads: '...the impossible has been done...a really great novel inspired by a really great novel.'
