SOLVED. Fantasy - cover is blue with a girl showing the palm of her hand that has an eye carved on it I think, title resembles something like "witch of ga'hoole" (there's an apostrophe in the middle of the name for sure) [s]

It's a fantasy novel, I don't think it was particularly meant for young adults, but the protagonist is a young girl.
It's a novel written over a decade ago by a male author about a girl who turns out to be a witch.
I remember her collecting peaches or some other kind of fruit in a field and then gets chased by villains who want something she has.
She has a symbol carved in the palm of her hand that burns I think.
The front cover of the book shows that girl with the symbol on her hand (or head maybe?).

The title is something like "The Witch(es) of (...)"
The name has an apostrophe in it, like Ka'hool or something. I'm having a hard time remembering it.
