That's so sad. I only have one dog left. (I used to have two dogs. Both are female.) She's blind and has diabetes. I hope she can live just as long as my other dog did. I still miss her.

It's ok. I still miss my other cats, but sometimes God brings us a new one after the other one passes. (Real life experience. 2x, but I'm not going to brag about it. It's so strange in good ways.)

One of the worst parts is that I actually know the owner. You could not believe how furious I was when I found out they had a dog and when I saw the conditions the dog was in.

I haven't had any pet die but fish. But my dogs now I know will take a HUGE toll on my family when they die.

You see, my dog is a rescue dog. The last two places she was at they neglected and hurt her so she has really bad anxiety. It took me a long time to gain her trust when we first got her. I was the only one she would even really go around at first. She was all skin and bones, with burrs all knotted into her skin leaving scabs. And because she was left outside in the freezing Minnesota winter air, on a chain that only reached like six feet, she had frost bite and blood shot eyes. Because her chain was so short she couldn't reach her food and could only go to the bathroom where she slept so she smelt horrible also. She still sometimes cowers when someone she doesn't know tries to pet her, but for the most part she is a LOT better.
But because she's been moved to different places so many times in her short life, when I dropped her off she probably thought I was getting rid of her too. :(
I REALLY want to go pick her up, but the surgery takes a few hours.
