He frowned, furrowing his brows. "You don't have to leave so far. You can stay here as long as you like. As long as you work here eventually." He said.She nodded solemnly and stood up, gathering her things. "I'll have the next two chapters read for tomorrow." She forced a small smile then walked over to grab her hat.

"If you ever want to talk about it you can come to me" Looking up to her. He felt bad and didn't want her to feel bad either.
"If you say so." Be sighed sadly. "But you can stay here if you want. Don't think you can't." He smiled and stood up, picking her towel up off the floor.
((Oops))"Really?" She bit her lip. "I mean I'm grateful but I don't want to bother you with my problems. Like I said before, there's other things for you to worry about."

Jay smile some. "Its fine I won't worry, but you shouldn't have that bottle up inside." Looking down at his desk.
"I want you to stay here because it's better for you here and you know that. I don't think you want to go another day being hit and God knows what else." He turned to her. "And you know me now. You know that I'm not going to hurt you." He gently took her hand. Alice sighed and stared down at her boots which you could just see the toes poking out from under her long skirt. "I was told to keep everything in. I was told that no man would care about the pain I endured. Only that I can cook and clean and bear children."

Jay looked at her. "Well I'm a teacher who is going to be your friend not anything more. You can talk to me when you are ready, but until then see you tomorrow morning." Smiling some hoping she will like him as a teacher and a friend and not some person who is a stranger.
"For the millionth time stop considering yourself a burden." He said, running his hands through his hair. "You're anything but that." Alice nodded, placing her hat on top of her head. "Well you basically know the gist of it. But thank you. I'll keep it mind. I'd like to me your friend." She smiled, holding out her hand.

Jay didn't even notice her holding out her hand as he was too busy looking through papers. Even if he did he wouldn't know what to do with it. "Do you need something?" He asked in serious voice.
Michael didn't really know what to say. What he did know though was that they seemed to be similar when it came to not having parents. "I don't have parents either." He said.Slightly annoyed, Alice dropped her hand. "Well I was going to shake your hand but you don't seem to want to pay attention to you student more than you want to read rose papers." She scoffed. "Good day Sir." She pivoted around on her heels and walked out.

Sighing some taking his left hand and running it through his hair. "I'm sorry" He whispered feeling bad about making her upset. He wish someone would understand he didn't know how to interact with anything but work.
"I'm not going to ask you how they passed because that is none of my business. What matters now is that we are both alive and well." He looked down at her plate. "Eat. We don't like wasting food here."Alice skipped down the porch steps and walked to the direction of town. She didn't understand how someone could be so involved with their work twenty-four seven. Maybe he was trying to grieve the loss of someone....she didn't know.

Jay went back to work, but as he did something felt off maybe he should try to socialize.

"It's okay." He said quickly, taking her plate. "There's nothing to worry about. Just take deep breaths." He instructed.Alice disliked walking through town. It was when she was usually cat-called or stared at by desperate men. Once, although she hates to admit it, she considered selling her body for money. But she quickly got off that train and focused on getting a proper education.

Cursing himself he had to go by some food which he been meaning to buy for sometime now. Sliding in his chair as he grabbed the list and went out to the market
"It's alright. Would you like to get some rest? I can give you some privacy. I have to help with the rest of lunch anyways." He said. "Or you can help me if you wish." Alice avoided all of the on-lookers and made it to her home. Her uncle was still working and her aunt was home sewing in the siting room. She greeted her aunt with a kiss on the cheek before heading upstairs to her room.

Jay walked in a steady pace until he reached the towns supermarket. He reached out for some fresh fruit sighing some. Looking up to see happy couples or mothers taking their kids for walks. Everyone was happy it made him want that. His feet moved for him as he turned around to go home asking himself if he was truly happy.
"You won't be in the way." He assured. "If you decide to stay here after all you'll have work to do that brings in money. The women usually help with cooking and cleaning and such, but some serve as well. It's fairly easy." He said.Once in her bedroom, Alice decided she was in need of a hot bath. She picked out her nightgown for that evening and took it into the small bathroom.

Turning the knob to his house. As he walked in he put the groceries away. Sighing some he walked to his desk and sat. Instead of looking at papers or planning he thought about the telegram he received.
Michael smiled. "Well if you're good at a particular subject, you could teach, like I do." He suggested. "Or you can entertain the younger ones who aren't old enough for schooling. Like read them books and things." He said.Alice filled the tub and added some bubbles that was her birthday present last year from her mother. She didn't like to use it often to she could safe it. It was one of the few things she had left of her mother's. Once the tub was full, she stripped off her dress, corset, undergarments and stockings before sitting down in the calming water.

Tomorrow he deiced he will apologize for being rude to her. If he had a chance to make a friend then everything will alright in the end. Maybe in the end he will find a nice girl who would like him.
"For today you can stay down here and maybe tomorrow but eventually you're going to have to start earning your keep. You can cook and clean of you want, the cooks are really friendly. Or you can play with the little ones." He said.'Alexis sighed softly and allowed herself to sink under the water until she was completely under. She liked how quiet it was under the surface.

Taking a deep breath he turned his head slowly back down to his work. He quickly emerged himself in reading papers for her and planning a very detail day tomorrow.
"If you say so." He sighed. "Well I have to go teach, you can use my bed to get some rest," he stood up and adjusted his suit jacket.She resurfaced after a while and then proceeded to properly bathe by washing her long hair and her body. Once clean, she laid back and relaxed for an hour.

Getting very frustrated at himself. This wasn't working out maybe he shouldn't be teacher? Maybe he was just bad at it and should be something else.
Michael skipped upstairs and walked over to the school part of the house where there was five classrooms total. He went into his own and began to set up his lesson.After her bath, he dried herself of and put on her long white nightgown. She combed her hair at her vanity table on her room while humming softly.

"So today's lesson" Jay started to talk about the lesson in English. Pausing some after awhile. "I'm sorry about the other day when I didn't shake your hand I'm not the best with people in general" He felt bad for not doing it sooner he just coughed up the courage to do so.
Michael was sleeping peacefully on the floor on a mattress. He let out a quick snort when he was suddenly jostled a little as she climbed out of his bed. He groaned tiredly and opened his eyes,then yawned. "Lily?" He murmured, sitting up. He saw her shadow go up the stairs.Alice was sitting in her seat like she normally was for their lessons with a notebook and a pencil on the desk in front of her. She peaked up from her notes when he spoke. "Oh, it's alright. I've long forgotten about it. I should not have been so stubborn." She said.

Smiling to himself. "I just felt bad thats it" Jay tolf her feeling a lot better that he got it off his chest. He went into his less further. "How do you like Jane Austens writing?" He asked.
"Lily," he scrambled to his feet and jogged up the steps. He touched her shoulder. "Lily, what is the matter? You're okay. You're safe." He said gently.Suddenly, a certain state of mind came over Alice. Her face turned slightly paler and she felt shaky and weak, and her breath was shortening. However, she wasnt just going to run out of class again. She swallowed hard and nodded. "I like the simplicity of it." She murmured.

Looking up at her slightly. "Alice are you alright?" Asking softly she looked pale and a little off. "If you need to take break we can."
He frowned, taking his hands away from her. "Lily, it's me, Michael. You're at the blind school. I gave you food and shelter. I promised you I wouldn't hurt you." He said softly.Alice couldn't hear him anymore. She was staring blankly ahead as her heartbeat pounded in her ears. She opened her mouth and began to breath hard and audibly. "I-I-I need t-to go." She bolted up from her seat and staggered toward the door, but didn't make it. She fell into the floor and started to violently shake and gasp for air.

Jay dashed over near her. "Shhh its okay." He whispered as he knelt down. "Alice focus on 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you taste." Using a soothing voice.
"Lily." He said, kneeling down in front of her but not touching her. "You're not with your aunt and uncle. I'm not them either. I'm Michael; someone who you can trust and someone you can call your friend." She whimpered and sobbed, shaking uncontrollably. She heard his weirds and blinked back her tears enough to see. "D-desk. B-board. Bo-o-ok. C-chair. Y-you." She breathed, closing her eyes again. "Y-You, my breat-thing, my h-heart and r-ringing." She swallowed hard, her breath calming a little. She then moved her hand, flattening it on the floor below her. "Floor. Dust," she touched his knee. "You." She exhaled slowly. "Cologne. Paper." And finally, she shuddered. "Salt."

"My little sister use to have panic attacks when she was younger. That always helped her." He said getting up some trying to avoid the contact. It felt nice helping her, but he was a teacher and he didn't want her to have the wrong idea about him.
"Lily," he said in the gentleness voice ever. Her quickly scooped her up in his arms and carried her back downstairs to his room.She swallowed hard and frowned sadly when he suddenly got up and avoided eye contact with her. It made her feel like something was wrong with her. She sniffled and didn't say anything as she hid her face.

Jay sighed some. "My little sister is all grown up and married now, but besides that she used feel so bad about it." Looking at Alice some. "Its okay though you shouldn't be ashamed of it. You also shouldn't let people make you feel worse about yourself. He hoped she wasn't mad at him.
"No they won't, Lily." He said, sitting on his bed with her in his lap. "Just calm down and listen to my heart." He smoothed back her hair.She wiped her eyes and stayed curled up on the floor. Her limps felt like jello. "With my past plus this, I'll never be married." She murmured.

"Don't say that you will find someone your a kind beautiful girl." He said being serious and that was all he said knowing that he could lead her on and that would be bad. He was teacher and she a student. Sighing to himself not even sure if there was a chance he would find someone.
"You'll be alright. I promise. "I'll take care of you." He said softly, stroking her hair soothingly. She wiped her dripping nose and sat up slightly, wincing. "You're the only person who seems to care. Or I guess not care." SHe said shakily.

Jay bit his lip. "Listen right this second I'm your teacher and as teacher I care for my students nothing more nothing less." He said
Once she was asleep, Michael laid her down under the covers and also laid down beside her to keep an eye on her. He watched her sleep with a small smile.She sat up more and tucked her legs underneath her so she was sitting on her knees. "Yes sir." She murmured, avoiding eye contact.

He looked at her. "I don't mean to be harsh, but is highly wrong to get too close a female student."
He soon found himself drifting off to. But before he did, he pressed a gentle kiss to her temple then fell asleep next to her.She slowly stood up, clearly struggling. She held onto to the wall and leans against it. "There's nothing wrong with becoming acquainted with one another." She said.
Sighing some. "You can go home now" He said. "Class is dismissed"
