Brody sighed and nodded, standing up and stretching his back. "Okay. But you have to make sure you tell me if you're hurting or if you need anything." He told her and walked across the room to turn off the lights. He walked back to her and carefully slid into the bed next to her, careful not to touch her or jostle the bed too much. "Okay?" He asked stiffly, pulling the blanket up over her.

Sofia sighed, leaning into Jake and letting him comfort her. "I don't know, baby. I just haven't lived without you in so long..." She said softly and shook her head a little. "Especially now, when I'm going through so many new things. I'm going to be responsible for all the things I usually am, plus the things you usually do, all while going through the last months of my pregnancy without you." She said quietly and looked away. "And then I'll give birth to our son without his daddy to help me." She said softly and leaned her head against his shoulder. "And then our baby will be here, and I don't know how to be a good mom." She said even quieter and shook her head a little. She didn't want to complain about these things that neither of them could control. He was the one going to risk his life, she should be able to do what needed to be done here.
Wyatt was content for right then to just have Grace laying with a movie playing in the background. He watched as her hand moved from it's resting place against his chest over his shoulder to his hand behind her back. He smiled a little bit and moved their hands so they were resting against his chest again instead of the awkward position they were in. Normally Wyatt was a person who wanted to do something every second of the day and then grace was the one person who could get him to calm down long enough to just live life a little more
Joelle nodded in agreement to what he was asking her. She only tensed a little bit as the lights were turned off. She had not moved too much since being put on the bed and it was getting to the point where she wanted to just move around a little bit. "Brody?" She whispered after he had gotten into the bed with her
Jake frowned a little bit as he just listened to her fears silently until she was done talking, "Honey." He said softly," while in gone all you will have to worry about is what you do now and staying safe and helping Kaden grow." He told her," Everything that I normally would do is going to go to Kyle to do instead of you. So don't worry about any of that. He will come over when you need him and so will my mom." He commented," and you will be a great mom and soon after Kaden is born ill be home and I'll help you take care of him I promise."
Grace lay there with him happily until the movie ended, the credits scrolling across the screen. She sighed and slowly sat up, smoothing out her blond hair. "I'm going to use the restroom." She told him as she carefully untangled herself from him. "You can make food if you're hungry or jump in the shower or whatever you want. Make yourself at home." She said softly and gave him a smile before walking toward the bathroom.
"Yea?" He asked, propping his head up on his elbow with his good hand so he could see her better. He was sure he wouldn't get any sleep tonight on this little bed with Joelle right next to him, but he was glad to do it if it would make her feel a little bit better.
Sofia sighed, the frustrated look still present on her face. She knew he wanted his brother and mom to help her out, and she was grateful for that. She was sure she would need the help, but she wished she needed it less. Since she wasn't legally Jake's wife, all of their finances were in his name and she couldn't take care of that while he was gone. Their bills and his paycheck would all go to his family before it came to her, and it bugged her that she would be so dependent on them. "You're right, Jake, I know." She said softly and looked over at him. "I think it's all just kind of hitting me right now. It's scary to think about my life without you in it." She said softly and reached over to touch his face.
Wyatt was content enough to go to sleep and almost did until the credits started flashing across the screen. He opened his eyes again as he felt Grwce getting up. "Okay I think im fine for now I took a shower before I came over here." He replied sitting up as she left the room and stretched a little bit and settled back into the couch with a yawn looking at his phone to see what time it was
She pulled the mask out of her way again not liking how it made her voice sound when she talked with it on. " I need to move." She whispered back looking up at him. Joelle really just wanted to be able to move on her own but her body was not cooperating with her. She sighed softly also wanting to be closer to Brody in the dark as she was a little frightened now just being in the dark with him
Jake frowned a little bit as he looked at her not sure how else he could help her with everything. "It's going to be fine.. If it wasn't I would have found a way to stay here with you but you have your parents and my family here to take care of you and if you really need it Carson is staying here with his wife and you can go see them... They will help you the most I think." He told her softly. Carson was also Jake's best friend from being at basic with. Most times they went together on missions but this time Carson was staying home with his wife while jake left
Grace returned from the bathroom and sighed, looking over at him on the couch as she turned off the movie. "I think I should go to bed, Wyatt. Big day tomorrow." She said an gave him a nervous smile. "You can sleep in here if you want, or you could sleep in the first beeroom." She suggested, shrugging a little. "But you don't have to go to bed if you don't want to." She added quickly, feeling a little awkward. She felt bad making Wyatt sleep by himself in another part of the house, but she didn't want to deal with her parents if they caught the two of them together. Plus, this whole relationship was new to them. Thu probably needed to establish some boundaries here.
Wyatt blinked a few times as he shook himself awake a little bit more. "You go on to bed ill be fine here on the couch." He replied," Just wake me if I'm not up when you are." He told her softly. Wyatt didn't care if he stayed in the same room as Grace it would have been nice but right then thy didn't need all of that too to deal with her parents about. He was already going to get in probably just by sleeping on the couch.
Brody sat all the way up and sighed, not really sure what she wanted or how to help her. "Okay.." He said and looked around. "Do you want to get up or just move over, what do you want to do?" He wondered, frowning when she pulled the mask off. He caught it before it could fall to the ground
Sofia turned around to face him, holding his face in her hands gently. It was sweet how concerned he was about her uncertainties, but there was no use in making him upset like this. "I know, Jake, it's going to be okay." She said softly, sitting on her knees as she looked at him with honest eyes. "I'm just scared, and I'm just going to have to deal with that and keep on going. I will have plenty of help here." She told him and kissed his nose lightly. "I love you."
Joelle frowned a little," I just want to move so I can sleep. I can't sleep laying flat on my bad." She complained. She felt bad about asking Brody to do more but she was really tired and just wanted to go home and hope this was all a dream so she could get on with her life. Joelle didn't want the mask on her face to help her breath it was hard enough for her to talk and get enough air in her lungs with it on.
Jake nodded slightly though was still frowning a little bit," Okay." He replied," But I want you to tell me what you are worried about so I can fix it at least a little bit." He told her softly letting his arms just rest around her waist. "I want to make sure you are okay for when I leave." He told her kissing her cheek and then smiling just a little," I love you too Sofia."
Grace nodded and walked over to the couch to hug him tightly. She had already made laced a pillow and and a pile of blankets by the couch in case he chose to sleep there. "Goodnight, Wyatt." She said quietly and smiled softly at him. "Sweet dreams. You can wake me up if you need anything." She called back to him as she made her way to her bedroom.
Wyatt wrapped his arms around her tightly," okay good night Gracie." He said softly hugging her," I'll see you in the morning and if you need me come get me okay because I'm not going to wake you up." He told her confidently. He smiled," okay sleep tight and don't let the beg bugs bite." He said laughing a little bit
Brody nodded, his eyes softening. He shouldn't get upset with her; thy were both tired and she was going trough a very hard time. He needed to be helpful and supportive. "Okay, hold on." He said softly and got out of bed, moving around to the other side. He gently slipped his arm inderneath her back and guided her until she was laying on her side facing where he had been laying. He gently moved her over so they would both have a little more room. "Any better?"
"I know you do, love. And I'm not going to be okay when you leave, but I will be. And I'll be just fine until you come home." She told him, dropping her hands from his face into his shoulders and gently kneading the tight muscles there. She didn't like the frown on his face. He had enough to worry about with himself without having to worry about her too.
Joelle sighed softly as she was carefully moved onto her side by her best friend. She smiled and nodded a little bit," Yes... Thank you." She said in a voice just above a whisper. Now that he had helped her move to her side it was easier for her to relax and she didn't have to worry about pulling on the IV tubes that were running into her hand.
He sighed softly and nodded," I know but I want this to be easier on you." He said softly leaning his head down into hers. "Sofie what am I going to do without you?" He whispered closing his eyes as she massaged his shoulders. Jake knew that saying these things to her now wasn't going to help them in the morning but he just needed her to help him think clearer. He hated leaving her and he just needed her to tell him what to do
Grace rolled her eyes. "Wake me up if you need something, Wyatt. I mean it!" she argued with him from her room, laughing to herself softly. She laid down and let out a long sigh, a small smile still stuck on her face. She would never have imagined what today would bring when she woke up this morning. She had discovered she had cancer, but she had also discovered her new relationship with her best friend. It had been a bittersweet day, but her spirits were high. She couldn't change her diagnosis, but she could definitely make the most out of the days she had left.
Brody smiled softly at her and nodded. "Good." he said and filled a cup with water for her, setting it by her bedside incase she wanted it before laying down next to her again. "You're welcome, Joelle. Anything you need, all you have to do is ask." he told her softly and gently smoothed the hair out of her face. He placed the mask back over her face carefully, chuckling a little at her expression. "You need to wear it, Jo."
Wyatt laughed a little and called back," Yeah well still not going to wake you up." He grinned to himself not sure how the next day would go but then he didn't know how today was going to go and he ended up finding out his best friend had cancer and then asking her to be his girlfriend. With that thought he got up and padded to her room to see if she was sleeping yet. He didn't want to disturb her if she was though. So he stood just outside her room to see if she was awake or not
Joelle nodded a little bit and smiled at him," I know Brody." She replied knowing that he would do anything for her if she just asked him to but then she would do anything for him also if anything happened to him although helping his move around would prove difficult for her. She frowned," I don't care I don't like it." She replied but it came out muffled because he had already put the mask over her face. Joelle tapped his hand shaking her head slightly
Sofia frowned, choking back tears at his broken expression. "Jake.." she whispered, closing her eyes as well as their foreheads rested against each others. She opened them again and looked straight into his close eyelids, her hands tightening a little on his shoulders. "You're going to go out there, and you're going to kick somebody's ass." she told him and laughed just slightly. "You're going to be the hero that I know you are. You're going to be smart and safe, and you're going to the job you were chosen to do, and you're going to make me so proud doing it." she said softly, kissing his forehead gently. "And you are going to call your beautiful wife every chance you get, and finally you're going to come home to me and your handsome baby boy."
Grace shifted in her bed and opened one eye, sensing his presence as he stood by her door. She was having a hard time sleeping; she was still wired from the day and very nervous about what was going to happen in the morning. "Are you creeping on me while I sleep?" she asked playfully in a loud whisper, rolling onto her back so she could look up at him.
Brody sighed and took it off of her, a disapproving look on his face. "I know you don't like it. But it's going to help you." he argued, shaking his head a little. He placed it in front of her face on the pillow, but didn't wrap the elastic around her head. "There. Is that better? At least you'll breathe in some of the medicine." he compromised, pulling the blanket back over him.
Jake cracked a small smile as she told him exactly what he was going to do while he was away and he knew that every one of those things she said he would do to the best of his abilities. He nodded slightly opening his blue eyes to stare into hers. This was not how he had wanted to spend the evening but now he was glad he said something as the words she said lifted his spirits a little bit as took a weight off his shoulders he didn't know he was carrying. ," you are so right Sof." He said softly kissing her nose softly," I'm going to come back home and I will expect to have both of you waiting for me." He teased Wyatt laughed softly and nodded," Yes because that's the type of person I am a total creeper." He muttered walking into her room and sitting in the edge of her bed. "I just figured you wouldn't be able to sleep just yet." He said softly reaching out a hand and touching her cheek softly
Joelle nodded a little as he placed the mask close to her face but not wrapping the cording over her head." Yeah I like it like this." She replied softly still able to breath in the oxygen and then medicines they were giving her. "Thank you." She whispered closing her eyes a little bit. Joelle knew Brody didn't think it was a good idea for her to be like this but she didn't like that think being smashed to her face
Sofia smiled at him, relieved that he seemed to feel a little better. She hoped that he would call her whenever he felt the way he had just a minute ago.He had a tendency to wallow when he was upset about something, and she was afraid that could lead to something very bad while he was away. "We are going to be waiting for you long before you ever get home, sir." she teased back and kissed his cheek lightly. She pushed herself to her feet and grabbed his hand, pulling him up as well. "Come on." she said softly and led him back to their bedroom. She stood at the end of their bed, motioning him for to get on the bed. "Lay down, babe. I'll be right back." she said with a smile and rushed back out of the room, retrieving the candles from the living room.
Grace sighed and shook her head, catching his hand before he could pull it away. "Yea...I don't know how well I'm going to be able to sleep." she admitted and looked up at him, biting her lip as thoughts rolled over in her mind. "Do you want to stay?" she asked softly, her green eyes wide as she looked up at him.
Jake chuckled softly and nodded a little bit," Yeah I know you will be and I'll be just as happy to get back home to you two if not happier than both of you together." He replied with a small smile. He knew that just talking to her about what was going thru his mind helped him think clearer than if he was just to go about everything on his own. He looked up at her but nodded," Okay okay I'm going to lay down now," jake replied laying in their bed. "Sofie if I see that you are walking through our house with a lit candle I will not be happy." He called though was slightly serious and slightly teasing
Wyatt nodded a little bit," I think i see what you are thinking." He replied softly holding her fingers in his. " I'll stay only until you fall asleep because if I stay your parents will kill me for sleeping in the same bed as you." He told her softly leaning over and kissing her cheek gently
Brody chuckled a little and shook his head in exasperation. It was amazing how stubborn she was, even now in this state. "You're welcome. Now get some sleep." He said softly, tucking the blanket aroun we but too afraid to touch her too much. He rested his head in his arm, his eyes half open as he watched her.
Sofia stopped on her way back to their room, staring at the two lit candles she was carrying- one in each hand. She rolled her eyes, a smile lighting up her face. "I am a grown woman, I will do what I please!" She yelled back to him and co toured walking, but was more careful now with the candles. "Now take your shirt off." She instructed, the playful mischievous grin still on her face as she took the last few steps into their small bedroom. She placed the candles on either side of their bed, waiting for him to follow her instructions.
Joelle smiled a little bit more now a little bit happy. It was true she was stubborn which was part of the reason Alan would beat up on her so much. "Okay goodnight Brody." She whispered putting the hand that didn't have the IV in it under her head making the mask rest against her nose as she closed her eyes not knowing Brody was still watching her Jake laughed softly as he heard her yelling back at him. " fine but be careful woman!" He called back still chuckling as he leaned back against all of their pillows. "What? Take my shirt off?" He asked looking at her," I'm not sure I like that look on your face." He muttered rolling his eyes a little bit but pulling his shirt over his head.
Grace smiled softly at him. "I would really appreciate that, Wyatt." she said softly and moved over in the bed, gently pulling him down next to her. "It's okay if you fall asleep though, my parents will just have to deal with it." she said stubbornly and curled against, relaxing already just having him near her. "I'm just...nervous. All these scenarios keep playing through my head about what tomorrow could be like." she admitted softly.
Brody kept his sleepy eyes on Joelle as she settled into bed and closed her eyes. He felt responsible for her safety and happiness even more now than he did before. She deserved to be so happy, and he wanted to make sure that she had the opportunity to be that happy and do whatever she wanted. His best friend was bright and caring, even if she was difficult sometimes. He just wanted to protect her and make sure she lived the life she deserved without worries.
"Ohh, I bet you're going to like it in a minute. Now roll over onto your stomach." Sofia told him and winked playfully, disappearing into the bathroom connected to their bedroom. She reemerged with the lavender lotion she used after a bath, having changed out of her outfit of the day into a pair of comfy shorts and a black satin cami that clung tight to her growing figure. "I just want you to relax, baby. Let me just help you for a little while.." she said softly, kneeling on the bed next to him. She gave Jake massages every now and then when he had an especially bad day, but he was about to face many bad days without her there to help him through it. The least she could do was show him how much she loved and believed in him.
Wyatt chuckled softly as he laid down with her," well there's the stubborn girl I know so well," he teased softly as he wrapped his arm around her tiny frame and pulled her close. "Okay but still I'd rather not make your parents too mad at me." He replied kissing the side of her head softly. Wyatt didn't want her to be too nervous, so he gently ran his fingers in slight circles on her back," I'm sure." He said softly," But now try not to think about that there will be plenty of time to worry about what will happen when we get there." He replied softly hugging her close to his side
Joelle drifted off to sleep within a few minutes. She sighed softly not moving much because it still hurt to move but the hand she wasn't laying on slowly moved across the small space between her and Brody. She just rested her fingertips against his stomach once she found his body just to make sure he was still with her. Joelle wasn't dreaming yet but soon she was pulled into a dream about what has happened earlier in the day. This all caused her breathing to increase and her heart to start beating rapidly, but with the strain on both her lungs and her heart, her breathing became ragged and her heart beat irregular causing one monitor to start beeping
Jake raised his eyebrows and then just slid down on the bed so he was layin on his back then rolled over like she wanted," Okay okay fine." He muttered with a good natured grin for her. He watched as she came back out of the bathroom with her lotion and smiled slightly as he wrapped his arms around his pillow," I can deal with that right now." He said softly already feeling better just by having her with him but really he did enjoy her massages and it did help him relax.
Grace sighed, relaxing more as his fingers on her back grounded her. "I know." She whispered. "There's no use worrying about something that's going to happen whether I think about it or not." She said softly and ticked a hand under her head. "It's just hard not to." She admitted quietly and twisted her head to give him a small smile. "But it's easier with you here." She added softly, stretching forward to kiss his cheek. She felt so safe on Wyatts familiar arms; It was hard to think about negative things with his comforting presence so near. She still had butterflies in her stomach over what was to come, but she could ignore them for now.
Jakes mouth twitched when her fingers touched him. He was half asleep, but he was too uncomfortable laying there in his work clothes and too worried about her to fully fall asleep. His eyes opened when she started breathing heavily, and he sat up quickly when the monitor started going off. "Joelle!" He rested, gently touching her shoulder in an attempt to wake her up. He grabbed the mask from where it had fallen somewhere in the space between them and held it over her face, using the his injured hand to hit the call button on her bed. "Cmon, wake up Joelle." He murmured, squeezing her hand and shaking her arm slightly.
"I thought you could." Sofia said softly and laughed a little, climbing over him so she was sitting on his backside, straddling his hips. "Is this okay?" She asked softly, not sure if her extra weight would be uncomfortable for him. She leaned forward before he could answer, her soft hands sliding up the sides of his back to press into the tense muscles in his shoulder blades. She took this opportunity as well to let her eyes roam her amazing fiancée. His beauty took her breath away, but he wasn't one to show it off often. They were intimate, of course, she was pregnant after all. But he was much more reserved about these things than she was, an Sofia respected that no matter how frustrating it became.
