Jake sighed softly and nodded," Yeah I know but let's forget about it for now." He said," At least try to." He amended. Jake ran his fingers over her side a little bit and held her as try both looked up into the sky as he nodded listening to her," Okay well.. We can always go to the jewelry store and look at wedding bands some more." He offered. That was one thing they would have to do when he got back.

Grace chewed on her lip, her eyes boring into the ground as she fought to remain calm. "I know, I know. I can't believe it either." She said more loudly, running her fingers through her hair in frustration. "They're positive. They said the headaches were the most obvious symptom, but there were others to..." She shook her head, sighing. "They showed me the scans, Wyatt. There is definitly dark spot in there that's trying to eat my brain." She said and glance up at him with a small smile, trying to make this a little easier for the both of them. "I don't know what's going to happen, Wyatt." She said quietly, her hazel eyes looking into his, searching for his reaction.
Brody shook his head, sighing. "I don't like him, Jo. I know you don't either." He muttered but continued to help her clean up in silence. "Well we've missed the movie by now." He said and sat down on the couch, his shoulders still tense. "What would you like to do instead?"
Sofia smiled to herself, twisting her engagement ring around on her finger. "Yea, we could do that if you wanted to." She said and looked over at him with sparkling eyes- thinking about marrying Jake always made her heart swell with joy. "Your brother invited us to come swim at his house, but he understands if we want to just be alone. He will see you tomorrow when we send you off, anyway." She said and shrugged. "We could do either of those things, or we could just head home and relax. It's up to you, baby."
((Sorry it's been a very long day for me at work.))Wyatt just looked at her shaking his head a little in disbelief. "So how fast is this dark mark stuff spreading?" He asked," you know I will help you however I can." He told her gently. "I'll go with you to the hospital or just do whatever." Wyatt offered looking at her with his steady and loving deep brown eyes. He didn't know what to do other than offer to help her out. He slipped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. "So this is why you kept disappearing on me." He said softly still hugging her
Joelle sighed softly and muttered hoping he didn't hear her," That can't be helped now I'm stuck with him." She cleaned up beside him and then shrugged as he sat on the couch." I don't know but I just don't want to go anywhere right now Brody." She said softly sitting down beside him but being more careful than she normally was
Jake nodded a little bit," Okay well I think going out ring shopping with you would be fun" he said softly," it will get our minds off what is going to happen tomorrow." He said softly. "Ohh and you know my mom and your mom helped me pick out your engagement ring." He told her with a smile as he watched her play with her ring. Jake shrugged a little bit," Okay well I would rather just be with you for now and not go over to Kyle's house." He said softly. He wanted to spend the last day he had just with his beautiful fiancé and little unborn son
Grace could only shrug and shake her head along with him. "I have no clue. They said I would have to start chemotherapy soon and hopefully the tumor will shrink enough for them to operate and remove it." She told him, using the facts to distract her from the hopelessness she felt. Tears welled in her eyes at Wyatt's concern, and she buried her face in his shoulder as she hugged him tightly. "Oh Wyatt, I know you'll be there for me. You always are." She mumbled into him, the tears from her face wetting the soft cotton of his shirt. "I'm sorry I kept disappearing I just...I didn't know what was going on and I didn't want to talk about anything when I wasn't even sure..." She shook her head, looking up at him wth scared hazel eyes. "I'm luck to have someone like you." She said softly.
((Don't worry about it! I was busy all day anyway))Brody sighed and gently reached around to drape his arm over her shoulder reassuringly. "Well we will stay here, then. We can watch a movie, or have a cartoon marathon, or I could make us something cool to eat. Whatever you want, Jo." He said, looking down into her face with concern. He hated seeing her so unsure- his best friend was usually so strong and spunky. "Those nachos I made last week were pretty great, weren't they? I could go for a repeat." he suggested with a crooked smile, giving her a gentle squeeze.
Sofia smiled over at him. "That sounds great. I didn't really want to share you with anyone anyway." She said playfully and kissed him a few times deeply, lingering before she pushed herself to her feet and started rolling up the blanket. "Hm, I didn't know they helped you pick it out." She mused. "That makes it even more special though, I guess. It's already more beautiful than I would have hoped, even if I had designed it myself." She told him and laughed a little, turning her hand so the ring sparkled in the sunlight.
Wyatt nodded a little bit," okay well then I'll be there with you if you want." He said softly," do they already have a plan for you on when to start or what?" He asked resting his cheek on her head as he held her tightly. He was also listening to see if his little sister was waking up yet but then turned his attention right back to Grace as she started to cry." Awe Gracie don't cry." He said softly playing with her hair a little bit. "I'll always be here for you even if you don't want me around when all of this stuff happens... I'll still be here when you decide you want me around again." Wyatt promised softly
Joelle moved into his side a little bit as he draped his arm around her. "Okay let's just watch cartoons." She replied softly looking up at him after he started suggesting things that they could do. She sighed a little bit and nodded again with a small smile," Yeah those were really good... I could use some of those." She replied and winced a little as he squeezed her shoulder after turning her face away so he wouldn't see. "I'll find the cartoons if you start the nachos." She said covering up for herself hopefully
Jake chuckled softly as kissed her back gently tugging on her hair," Yeah I'd rather not share you with anyone either." He admitted getting up and helping her get all of their stuff together. "I had to ask them for help because I didn't want to get you something that everyone else had I wanted it to be special like you are to me." He answered," well I'm very glad you like it because that makes me happy." He told her slipping his arm around her waist as he led her back to his car. " So off to the jewelry store then?"
Grace looked at him, stunned that he would even think that. "Of course I want you, Wyatt. You're the only person I would want with me when I have to go through that." She said with conviction, squeezing one of his hands tightly. "I go in for my first treatment the day after tomorrow. I'll need somebody to at least drive me home." She said softly, wiping the tears from her face. "I know I know, I'm sorry for crying. It's useless, I know." She mumbled and sniffled a little, but her eyes stayed dry.
Brody sighed and nodded. She didn't fool him. But what was he supposed to do? She didn't want to talk about it, and he wasn't going to make her. But he had to help her somehow, and he had the make sure she found a way to solve this problem. "Okay. I'll be right back then." He murmured and gently let go of her, getting up and disappearing into the kitchen. He put together the nachos, his agitation growing by the second. By the time he put them in theicrowave, his hands were gripping a Simon room chair so hard his knuckles were white. He couldn't let this happen to Joelle. He took them out and brought them back, sitting down next to her stiffly.
"Aw, you're too sweet." She crooned playfully an laughed, kissing his cheek. "Yep, to the jewelry store." She agreed, gingerly lowering herself and her growin belly into the passenger seat of the car. "Your son is kicking up a storm in here." She admitted and winced a little, but laughed even as she did so. "He must want to help pick out the rings." She teased.
"I'm just saying that some people are like that not wanting their friends around during all of that." He replied softly looking down at her." but don't worry I'll take you there and pick you up and stay with you." He offered softly," I'll do whatever it is you need me to do." Wyatt told her softly looking at her," I don't care if you are crying if you didn't I would think something was wrong.. I just don't like seeing you cry is all." He replied
Joelle nodded a little bit," Okay thanks." She replied softly still not really herself but her bubbly personality coming out a little bit every now as again. She looked thru all the cartoons she had," what kind of cartoon marathon do you want to have, Pokemon, digimon.... I don't care you pick." She told him watching him sit down. She put her hands on her hips not knowing her sleeves had ridden up to the point where you could see dark bruises encircling her wrists. " I'm the only one who gets to pout right now." She told him with a small smirk that was almost like the one she gave him everyday
"Mmm not as sweet as you are." He replied putting their stuff in the back and then going around and starting the car. "Hey little man be nice to your mommy." Jake told the baby gently touching her growing stomach again before he pulled out of the parking lot as went to the jewlery store. " I'm sure he does." He replied chuckling a little bit
"I know. Thanks you, Wyatt." She said softly and gave him a small but genuine smile. "I just don't know what I do now, you know? My whole life is...different. Who knows what will happen in the future, or how much of a future I even have left. Do I just keep living like I did yesterday? Do I do something different? I don't know."
Brody's hands balled into fists when he noticed the dark spots on her arms, and he turned his head away in disgust. "Why should you have to pout if nothing is wrong?" He challenged darkly, running a hand over his eyes in frustration. He sighed and glanced back over at her. "The top one is fine, Jo. Thank you." He said softly, trying his very best to be congenial for her. She didn't need any grief from him- she was apparently getting enough from somebody else.
Sofia sighed happily, holding Jakes hand as he started driving. "Into imagine he could beean ieven if he wanted to." She said wistfully, her lips forming a smile just thinking about their sweet baby boy. "Do you know what kind of ring you want?" She wondered. "Like a plain one, or one with a design or jewel..." She listed, shrugging a little.
"You're welcome Grace. " he said softly and then shrugged," I don't know... I don't know what to tell you on that one." Wyatt replied softly. "Maybe this summer is the summer where we do all of those things that we always wanted... Make it the best summer ever." He told her trying to get her to smile again. He would do anything right then to help the girl he loved most in the world be happy no matter how long he had her around
Joelle looked at him and frowned a little bit at the anger she heard in his voice. She took a step back and shrugged letting her hands fall to her sides," I- I don't know." She answered softly turning away from him and putting the disc in and flipping the tv on not saying anything. She didn't want her boyfriend and her best friend mad at her but she could already tell that Brody was upset with her and she didn't like not when she was already hurt so much by Allen
Jake chuckled softly as he drove holdin her hand,"
((Ignore that)) Jake smiled and held her hand as he drove." Well he would try to help I'm sure." He answered chuckling a little bit and glancing over at her," We need to come up with a name for him too." He commented then shrugged," I honestly have no idea what I want my ring to look like... I was hoping you would help with that.. I had a hard enough time picking yours out so since we are going together let's just pick mine together and you can get whatever type of ring you want to go with yours."
Grace did smile theme, nodding vigorously. "Yes." She said firmly and laughed a little. "I'm in, for real. Let's do it." She told him, her eyes wide ad alive, but also desperate. She wanted this, with Wyatt. They had always talked about doing all kinds of things, but were too responsible to try them. Her parents weren't around hardly at all, and Wyatt had his siblings. He was the only person she trusted completely, and she couldn't imagine spending this summer- possibly the last days of her life- with anybody else.
Brody sighed, his shoulders sagginf i defeat. He held his hand out to Joelle, his eyes begging her to take it and forgive him. "Cmon, Jo. I'm sorry, okay? I'm just worried about you. But I won't bring it up again today, I promise. Let's just relax and watch some mediocre cartoons, okay?" He begged, giving her his sweetest, most innocent smile.
Sofia sighed. "Yea, I know. I'm just having such a hard time thinking of names." She admitted, stroking the back of his hand with her thumb. "And I would love to help you pick out your ring." She said honestly and smiled lovingly at him. It made her happy to think the ring he wore on his finger for the rest of his life would have a little piece of her put into it. She was quiet for a few moments, then looked over at him. "Do you have any names that you like for him?" She wondered, placing her other hand on her stomach and lookin down at it, wishing she could see to the little baby inside. It would help her know what to name him, she thought.
Wyatt grinned," great.. You write the list out and we will do as much as we can between your treatments." He told her. "I have enough money saved up from working all the time I can take this summer off from work so I can be all yours." He stared with a little nod. He wasn't about to miss a single day of graces life this summer not when he may not get to spend a summer with her again
Joelle looked at him and then his hand and stepped forward to take it but hesitated," You promise Brody?"She asked softly slipping her small hand into his with a soft sigh," I think I can deal with that and you at the same time." She said softly
Jake looked over at her then back at the road. "I know you tell me every night when I ask you." He teased softly squeezing her fingers gently," good because if you refused I don't know what I would have done with myself. He answered laughing a little bit then shrugged," I don't know I like Dustin and Xavier." He replied as he pulls into the jewelers
Gracie bit her lip, suddenly reconsidering. She felt guilty for being so selfish- Wyatt had a life too, and she shouldn't ask him to put it on hold for her. "I don't know, Wyatt..." She admitted, looking down at her hands. "I don't want you to quit your job. We can still do things and hang out if you have it, just like we do now. We can just do things on the list on days you don't have work." She suggested , sitting back against the couch and sighing, calmer now that shehad told him.
Brody nodded, liking up at her with a smile in his eyes. "Promise." He said softly and helped her sit down next to him." And you'll never have to deal with me, Jo. You know that. Just tell me like it is. 'You're being an asshole, Brody.'" He said in a high pitched voice, pretending to be her. "See? That's all it takes." He said with an easy smile, holding his hands out in surrender.
Sofia rolled her eyes, laughing a little. "Well it's an important decision! I just want to get it right." She defended and got out of the car with a little difficulty. "I really do like Dustin, though." She told him with a smile, taking his hand again as they walked into the store.
Wyatt looked at her," No way." He answered as he watched her." Let me do this.. I'll work one day a week and the rest of my time will be your time." He replied." Seriously let me do this." Wyatt told her slipping his hand into hers "come on it will be fun I promise." ((Sorry that was so bad))
Joelle laughed softly and nodded," Okay next time I'll tell you not to be a whiny butt." She replied hugging him a little bit. "You aren't mad at me are you?" She asked quietly as she looked away from him for a little bit as she played the movie. She couldn't deal with it if he was upset with her too. She needed someone to help her or at least figure out what was going on but she wasn't going to day anything because Allen had threatened to kill her if she mentioned what went on behind closed doors with him
Jake chuckled softly," yeah it would be horrible if we picked out a name for him we both didn't like. " he answered turning the car off after he parked and then got out," so Dustin is a good name.... What about Jordan or Kaden." He said opening the door for her and holding out his hand to help her get out of his car
Grace sighed, pulling a hand through her hair. "I can't tell you what to do, Wyatt. I know that by now." She said and laughed a little. "I just don't want you to stop your life because of me. You being successful is just as important." She said sternly and looked at him, stifling a yawn. She was suddenly exhausted after all the events of the day. The adrenaline of discovering her disease was wearing off, she guessed.
Brody shook his head, resting his hand on her knee lightly. "I'm not mad at you. I'm frustrated and concerned, that's all. I couldn't be mad at you about something like this." He said honestly, keeping his gaze on the TV screen. "I just want you to know that you can come to me, for anything. To talk, advice, or just so you're not alone...anything. I'm here."
Sofia gripped his hand tightly, awkwardly lifting her body out of the car. It was hard getting used to her new body, and even harder took fire out how to move it sometimes. "Kaden." She said with a bright smile. "I love that one." She beamed, kissing his shoulder as they entered the store.
Wyatt grinned a little bit as he watched her," Nope you can't tell me what to do because I won't listen to you unless it's really important." He teased softly. " it's fine I can still be successful while I'm hanging out with my best friend." He answered watching her though now there was slight concern in his gaze where normally there would only be playfulness or his other emotions swirling around in his eyes. "Are you alright?" He asked noticing her change in attitude almost immediately.
Joelle nodded slightly looking down at his hand on her knee with a little smile. "Okay I just don't want you mad at me." She said softly turning a little to just look at him for a second before looking back at the tv. "I know Brody... But I don't know what to tell you or what to do." She said honestly as the cartoon started playing. She sighed a little not knowing if she should say something and hope Allen didn't find out or if she should just keep it quiet like she always did and hide it from her best friend. She was so confused and helpless sometimes she didn't know what to do with herself
Grace nodded, giving him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, Wyatt. It has just wen a very long, stressful day." She said honestly and glanced at the clock, giggling. "An it's only 2 o'clock in the afternoon, yippee." She teased and looked up at him, her smile faltering when she saw the worry in his eyes. "Don't look at me like that, Wyatt. It's just me, Gracie." She said softly and tentatively reached up to place her hand on his cheek, sweeping her thumb across the soft skin under his eye. "I'm no different than I was yesterday. I don't want you to feel sorry for me all the time. I'm not going to break. I'm going to fight this." She told her very best friend firmly, her hazel eyes full of earnestly as they stared deep into his, trying to solve the mystery of his thoughts.
Brody rested his cheek on top of her head, trying to comfort her. "You don't have to say or do anything right now. Just be here with me." He said softly, attempting to lift her spirits. He was tired of seeing her so down and guarded, his best friend was full of fire and life. He would make sure that she remembered that whenever she was around him.
Jake helped her out of his car," okay you are going to have to be really careful going out so you don't hurt yourself." He told her softly then grinned," Okay so are there any other names you can think of or do you just want to go with kaden?" He asked looking at her as they walked into the store. He held her hand keeping her close to his side
Wyatt chuckled softly as he looked over at her," Yeah so who knows what else is in store for us today." He commented then frowned," I don't feel sorry for you." He said," Well I mean I do but not the way you think. It's just that I can't imagine you the happy go lucky girl I know to be sick." He answered," So I'm just worried I'm no going to make you sit here while I wrap you in bubble wrap and stick you in a place where you can't get hurt." He told her honestly," Though right now I really want to." Wyatt sighed softly as she reached up and touched his face. He leaned a little against her hand and closed his eyes just a smidge
Sofia rolled her eyes. "I'll be fine, babe. I think I can handle getting out of the car on my own for 3 months." She told him as they walked inside, thankful for the air conditioning after sitting outside all afternoon. She stepped up to the case with the men's wedding bands, looking at her own ring as she scanned them. "I don't think you're a super flashy kind of guy. I can't see you wearing something like these." She noted, motioning to the fancier rings adorned with diamonds or other stones.
Wyatt chuckled softly as he looked over at her," Yeah so who knows what else is in store for us today." He commented then frowned," I don't feel sorry for you."
