Someone posted this article on r/Fantasy earlier, Weird Westerns That Cross The Genre Border. It's cool to see the genre getting some press and gaining momentum. I do hope that we don't get some aspect that becomes our "gears and goggles" like Steampunk. Though the prevalence of zombies could end up that pretty easily.

Eric Bahle (ericbahle) | 45 comments Hmm...as much as I love Stephen King and Joe Lansdale. I wouldn't say they're the two vying for title of Father of the Weird Western. Still a decent write up and makes the point a lot of people miss. Westerns are already a fantasy genre, or at least mythic, so the jump to horror/steampunk/fantasy isn't that great a leap.

It never really is. Despite what some Literary snobs might want to say, genre is easy to slip into and can be used for anything you might need or want to do.
