Although I'd read that he'd been ill, his passing is still came as a shock to me.

awww i did not know about Faten Hamama's death! i am so sad about that now.

Of course I got introduced to Omar Sherif through Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Zhivago, but a favorite memory of mine is visiting the pyramids at night for what i expected to be a hokey laser show, but was actually a lot of fun--largely because it was narrated by Sharif. :)

Hamama was a lady ...one of the kind , I love her a lot . their movies together had a special magic , Lady of the palace سيدة القصر is my favorite one even though it was relatively light .

Realy ? the sound and light show at the pyramids is with his voice ? I didn't know that . I attended sound and light only at Karnak and I couldn't recognize the voices , but it was a great experience too !

I was only at the Giza pyramids. It was in English. I'm not sure if they used different voices for the different sites. It was really a great show.
