Kill Whitey by Brian keene buddy read (spoiler warning)
Feels like it's been ages since our last buddy read !!! Been having a break from Horror lately so be good to start with Brian Keene to get back into my favourite genre. Plus even better to buddy read with my mate Jonathan :-)
Hello Jeff nice to share another buddy read with you :-) Have you read Bryan Smith, Jeff he wrote some great crime novels which border slightly into horror territory bar the supernatural element.
I've only read one of his earlier horror novels, Deathbringer. I thought it was pretty bad, but it was only his second novel, so I'd be willing to check out one of his later works to see if I think he's improved. I get a weird kick out of watching certain authors improve over time.
Hi, I hope no one mind's if i jump in on this? i love Brain Keene and it's been ages since i was in a buddy read.:)
Your more then welcome to join in MiZzy :-) greetings to our buddy read. All Brian Keene fans are encouraged to join in our fun and games.
Go Kill Crazy was a alternate version of Charlie's Angels, if they went of the rails :-) Not long left till our buddy read
The ebook I think because I like to keep my Brian Keene paperback books in good condition. Did you see any good post apocalyptic movies lately? I saw Insidious last night. It was fun and kind of silly.
Last post apocalyptic I saw was Mad Max 4 on the cinema. On Thursday though I watched on television Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, which I enjoyed quite a lot. Also before my holiday I saw Jurassic World. Reading wise I had a break from horror, this buddy read will be my first horror in a while. Think my last horror was a point horror novel I found at my parents house. I read it for nostalgic reasons :-)
I haven't seen anything post apocalyptic lately. I'd like to see Mad Max, but I hardly ever get out to the theater. Mostly I've been slowly but surely working my way through the AFI Top 100 movies. 27 more to go, plus 14 rewatches of things I've seen, but not in a really long time.
No, basically just picking things at random, based on what the library has at the moment. Also, after tonight I have 26 more to go, plus 13 rewatches. Heh.
Has anyone ever seen or read the Screwfly Solution? I found the story to be a terrifying post apocalyptic scenario.
Well done Jeff, I checked out the list on the internet, seen quite a few on there thanks to my parents who brought me and my brother up on a wide range of movies through out the century. Not heard of this story Jonathan, but got good news for you my friend. I found my copy of Swan Song :-)
Jonathan, I haven't seen or read it, but I checked the IMDB page and it sounds a lot like Blood Crazy, except it goes by gender instead of age. Mehmet, I think I'd seen around half of them before I really started trying to finish the whole list.
Going to start Kill Whitey tonight after work. Book sounds good. I have the cover version which shows a woman wearing a rather short dress with the writing covering the bottom half. While another cover version I seen has a bearded man with a gun shot in his forehead !!!!
You joining our buddy read Veronica ? You are more than welcome to join us :-)So far we have 4 people on the buddy read, namely :
Jonathan
Jeff
MiZzy
Mehmet
It is good so far, I am enjoying Larry and his friends that he works with. Though I was never this type of guy, I can sympathize with their desires and motivations. Especially living life just to go through the motions.
Good catch Jeff! I didn't catch those references!(view spoiler)

Yeah, I liked it, too. Another quick, fun read. This and Entombed have roughly the same pace, which seems to work for Keene. Also forklifts feature prominently in both books... coincidence? Okay, it probably is a coincidence, but still.
