Just had a spammer hit one of my reviews, and left 3 comments that were completely unrelated to the review.
The question is: Should I delete the comments? If so, how? I like to think that any reviews I post help the authors I'm reviewing, and so monitor any responses to make sure I can answer questions the author may have about the review.
Thanks R.A. For some reason, spammers have my name right now. (Makes for some wonderfully hilarious blog material), this is just the first time it's come in publicly, and wasn't sure how to handle it.
The only way it can make you look bad is if you address them. As it is, people will read it (if they even bother) and wonder what kind of drugs the commenter was on, but it won't change their thoughts of your book. At least, not to the negative.
At least I know I'm not the only one beig hit by spammers. Last week under "books read" discussion I said I finished an autobiography of Chet Baker, I really liked it, gave a few reasons why. Next thing I know some troll who also uses J.M. as his/her identifier accused me of having financial interest in the book's sales. I ignored it, probably not much else we can do.
