OH my gosh, my mind is still blown away at your word count. SHEESH! Lol

message 302: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Thanks Annie, I do write fast, but the editing is a bitch. Sometimes it pays to take your time. I just can't seem to force myself to do it. I lose my "groove" when i do.

Daisy | 1803 comments it's sooo boring!!

message 304: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) What's so boring?

Kjersti but you can call me Captain | 250 comments I think she means editing.

Kjersti but you can call me Captain | 250 comments you know, every time I see your topic I see "Renee's Scattered Brian." >< My boyfriend's dyslexia must be rubbing off on me....

message 307: by Paul (new)

Paul I'm sure Renee has scattered someone called Brian before. And Franks, Joes, Bills...

message 308: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Maybe one or two - but I'll never admit to any in particular. I know a few i'd like to scatter. Sadly I haven't found the right opportunity. Their names aren't Brian either.

ha ha

I can totally relate to the editing, i'm so glad my first novel's over with. Although, if I can't get accepted with my novel now, I might just put it off.

message 317: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) **Morning kids, Martin you aren't the Tower of Pisa, why are you leaning like that? **sets Martin back up again and pats his head.** You know, I thought you were homely, but you're growing on me. No stink either, looks like we learned a thing or two about preserving bodies. Hello Harry. Oh, are you still angry about the sticks? Honey, you need to accept change, you are a chair now, so stop pouting. At least I kept you. I could have sent you to Paul's and given you to Artie for a chew toy. That's better.**

So here's the thing. I wrote 2216 words yesterday. I added them up last night. this morning I tried to pull up the new story I started which made up 1500 or so of those words. It is gone, I don't know where, and I don't know why, but it is gone. I'm still counting the words. I'll have to write it all again, but I did write them. All I can think is the kids used my laptop for a bit. One of them must have deleted it. Rotten little buggers. No one is likely to admit to anything so I won't bother interrogating them.

Word count so far= 213,032
July's count= 9248

I need to step it up if I'm going to make it over 50k for July.

message 318: by Paul (new)

Paul Word - File, open, list of recent files? Search, order by date and time last modified?

message 319: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Yep, did that. They did this once before, with Once Bitten. At least that one was in a notebook so I just had to retype everything. It was just the opening pages but I'm still upset. More upset with myself because I should have saved it before walking away. I thought I did, but I couldn't have. I can't even remember what I would have saved it under. I tried several different things but nothing.
Wait, date last modified. Let me try that.

message 320: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) I've got a monster of a headache and nothing to take it away. Aside from drilling a hole to get rid of the pressure, I don't know what to do. seven freaking kids today too. Not good.

I was a little more productive yesterday. 3796 words. It's just as well my other work was deleted. I had a better idea and went in a different direction. I also worked on Rowan a bit. Her story is taking on a life of it's own and I'm just along for the ride it seems.

That makes the total words so far 217,428

July words = 13,044

It's creeping up there Paul, 20-odd days to go. You might be right. I might get over 50k after all.

message 321: by Paul (new)

Paul Course you will Renee. I believe in you. Failure is not an option.

To avoid hangovers, stay drunk. Or don't drink inthe dirst place.

To remove other headaches, just listen to the voices, Renee. Listen...listen...you are going to forget everything I say now...but when I call and say "The red cow flies at midnight..." you will act.

Better now?

message 322: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) A little, although it's not a booze headache. I wish it was, then at least i'd have the memories, hazy thought they'd be.

Red cows? Who has red cows? Where did that come from? Ow!! Okay okay, I'll listen to the voices. Stop that. I hate when they do that.

message 323: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stone (laurenreads) | 502 comments When in doubt put on a movie preferably Disney its like crack for kids and if there is ice cream or cookies involved even better if that doesn't work I have another truck for you but its a little more complicated

message 324: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Right now the kids are tearing up the basement. I hear lots of laughter and I'm reluctant to go down and break it up. It's so quiet up here. I know, I have to do it. Kurt will flip if anything is broken again, the two year old ripped a spindle right out of the railing yesterday. He wasn't too thrilled about that.

Actually, I'm going to get the kiddie pool and bath the dogs. They'll hump each other until the new dog smell wears off, but I'm sure the kids will love bathing them.

message 325: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stone (laurenreads) | 502 comments Awesome

message 326: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Dogs bathed, now in their crates, to avoid further traumatizing the kids.

message 327: by Paul (new)

Paul Aren't the dogs traumatized too?

message 328: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Not really, they keep humping each other. I don't understand it. I've tried several different shampoos, no shampoo, kicking them in the nuts, they just keep humping after baths. They don't get them very often because I can't take the stress. They don't even get the right end. It's scandalous what they do. The kids ask questions, and I'm like "never mind, they're mental."

I did not so bad at word counts yesterday, considering the kids and the dogs and the humping.
2527 words. I'm okay with that. I'll catch up this weekend. You know if I can manage over 4000 words from now until the end of july, every day, I'll have my 100k words? It's really not so bad. Just get rid of the kids and I'm on my way.

Total so far= 219,955
Total July= 15,571

message 329: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Good morning guys, sorry I ignored you all earlier. Harry, where's your hand. Artie? Damn babies. They put everything right in their mouths. Here's a glove, can't be scaring the guests. Is the dungeon door open? How many times do I have to say this? Alway close the door, the noise carries to the neighbors when it's open. **goes down to check on the prisoners.** Ummm...it appears Artie has been here too. I'm going to have to talk to paul about that kid. Now, I've got random limbs, but not one whole prisoner. Jeepers. All that work.

Hey I'm at 3400 already this morning. It's going to be a good day.

message 330: by Paul (new)

Paul Sorry about that Renee. After his midnight snack, he was about the size of King Kong. It took a while to subdue him. You know those tranquillizer darts you fire at elephants so you can clean their teeth? Took nine of them to knock him down. I don't think babies are meant to have tentacles and scales and spines, are they?

Wait till you see how he's created in Halifa.

I know I wasn't going to do any work today, but I just couldn't resist.

message 331: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Remember, it's not work if it's fun. I can't wait to see the first chapters. you aren't going to make me wait until the entire thing is done are you?

message 332: by Paul (new)

Paul It is going to be long (stop sniggering), so I've split it into three parts. I'll send you part one when it's done - no wait, I can't. I'll be in Wales sans Internet while I'm writing it.

Tell you what, I'll send you what I've done before I go.

message 333: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) It's okay, you can send me part one when you get back. Then I can make you wait while I read it. I like it longer, don't like just bits and pieces. (now you stop sniggering)

message 334: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stone (laurenreads) | 502 comments awkward. sniggering in california

message 335: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) See, I knew you guys would go there. Shoot, I don't even have to try anymore.

message 336: by Paul (new)

Paul Hasn't Arnie (sorry, Governor Arnold 'I'll be back' Schwarzenegger) made sniggering a serious crime in California? Not a misdemeanour, but an actual felony?

I first typed Caledornia. Sort of a hybrid between Scotland and California. That would be a strange place.

message 337: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Yeah, save that one. I don't know. Maybe. He wouldn't like sniggering. Lauren should be more careful. We can snigger until the cows come home here and nothing happens. When do the cows come home? just wondering, the way we say that phrase, it seems like they must take a long time to come home. Where do they go that they need to come home? I don't get it.

message 338: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stone (laurenreads) | 502 comments its ok, they come to california, because happy cows come from california and apparently make better dairy, or at the very least thats what the california dairy farmers want you to believe.

you can snigger as long as it is done artistically, arnie wouldn't want to be a hypocrite after all he was an actor and was in the movie twins and junior.

mass sniggering induced activity, watching either of those movies.

Caledornia, is a magical place, its where there is universal health care, and social systems in place that actually aide their citizens and no one gets labeled a terrorist or a communist. damn commies.

as a side note, true communism will never exist because people are greedy bastards, isn't utopia an ideal construct.

message 339: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Holy cow, that was just too much smart stuff. I've been around kids too long.

message 340: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stone (laurenreads) | 502 comments that or it's because i just woke up from a nap and took a shower so my brain is refreshed where as yours is being systematically stolen by children. in any event i have to drive my hour and half to work now. lameness.

message 341: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) I'll be thinking of you while I chill out with my coffee and my book.

message 342: by Paul (new)

Paul Yeah, it's great when political theoreticians ignore the fact that their systems are going to be applied to human beings - fallible, greedy, imperfect, flawed individuals - just like us.

Well, just like you lot. I'm perfect.

message 343: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stone (laurenreads) | 502 comments further proof that renee, you and i are all related. cause we are perfect, aside from the whole i stole some of renee's boobs thing.

message 344: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Of course you are Paul. Of course you are.

Renee (rjmiller) Why can't morning come later? Why am I always up before 6am? what is wrong with my brain that it cannot comprehend sleeping in? Ugh!!

anyway I did well for word count yesterday, even with the horrid trip to the park with my million kids.

4511 words yesterday.
Total 2009= 224,466

Total July= 20,082

message 346: by Paul (new)

Paul Barbara Cartland (or Barbara Cartload as I call her) used to dictate 10,000 words a day. Book done in about a week. Of course, all her books were basically the same apart from the settings and the names, so essentially it was the same 10,000 words each day. But - hey, so what? Millions of people bought and liked her 300 or so books, so she must have been doing something right.

message 347: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) People like what they know right? I get tired of the same old stuff after a while.
