We're exploring roots now. Family histories. A different perspective and not as recent as the time frame Oscar lives in.

Does exploring the background add to the book in terms or liking it or disliking it? Or should we stick to Oscar's eyes only? We do go back to Oscar, eventually. But does this quick introduction to heritage make things more confusing or explains it better. Let out your thoughts! Not just on this but on anything we have read so far. Has anyone read Diaz aside from Oscar Wao?
