I liked the book more than his first novel. It's a quick read.

While I very much enjoyed Jamie Ford's first novel, I was disappointed in his second novel. Songs of Willow Frost is overly melodramatic and sentimental. I was distracted by phrasing and references were inconsistent with the time period. I forced myself to finish this book, but I doubt I will pick up his next.

I loved this book.

I did not like this one as much as Hotel on a Corner of Bitter and Sweet.

Brittany, I had trouble getting into Hotel, but once I did I liked it--actually better than Willow!

I'm only up to the movie theater part. I'm hoping it's as good as "Hotel".

I agree that I liked his first book better.

Me, too. His first book was much better than his second.
Has anyone heard of a third book? :)

I loved Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, but this second novel felt contrived and as another reviewer said - overly melodramatic. I gave up after 50 pages and moved onto more interesting reads.

Terri, did you possibly read Girl in Translation? I can't remember the author's name at the moment, but I do remember that it was the author's first book. I find it very interesting that I was disappointed in the author's second book, just like the scenario with Jamie Ford's first two books.
