Do mermaids count as "paranormal"?

I would say so as long as they are based in the modern era.The difference between fantasy and paranormal IMHO is whether it is in the real modern world.
So any fantasy creature in the modern world counts as paranormal!
I totally think any mythical creature qualifies PNR. It also stands out because there are not a whole lot stories featuring mermaids, let alone merman. Except for this exciting tale I read recently that is not for the faint of heart
.
I always thought they were more in the fantasy department but I think it is a very fine line between paranormal and fantasy to be honest.
Ooh, that sounds juicy. As soon as I see the phrase "not for the faint of heart" I take it as a challenge!
I consider my book The Mermaid of Redwood Cove to be paranormal. But I have a hard time figuring out where & how to categorize my books. When there is a mix of things and the book doesn't exactly fit any one of them, it's kind of hard.I'd say go with what feels right to you. Since we have no real evidence of mer-creatures, and there is a love relationship, I'd say paranormal fits.

Does merman love qualify as "paranormal romance"?
Thanks for your input!
