I thought of this on the way back from lunch yesterday. xD

What is your character's favourite food? Why is that? What is your character's most-hated food? Why?

What's your character's favourite beverage? Does he drink soda (or pop or soft drinks--depending on the region)? Does she like coffee or tea? If so, does she add sugar, cream, flavoured creamers, or sweetener? Maybe she hates coffee and tea all together. Does he drink alcohol? If so, what drinks?

---

My protagonist, Nelly loves pickles and breadsticks. She grew up eating a lot of fresh bread. Their apartment was above a bakery, and her father (a fashion designer) would make uniforms for the bakery employees in exchange for free baked goods. She likes pickles because she loves sour foods. She hates anything sweet because sweets make her vomit. One time she went into a chocolate store that smells of chocolate and vomited immediately.

She likes any unsweetened drinks. She likes unsweetened iced tea and black, very very bold coffee. She prefers the local--only-in-one-spot coffee from a SoHo, New York coffee shop near her father's newer apartment. She likes to drink beer and sometimes harder booze.

What about all your characters? :3

Michael Pearce (michaeltinkerpearce) | 91 comments Engvyr is a dwarf of unusual tastes in that he prefers hard cider to beer or ale, but not to excess; his folk look down on drunkenness. His favorite food is roast pork with mushrooms in sour cream gravy, and he is also fond of dandelion greens and apples fried with sweet onions. Like all dwarves in the series he drinks a lot of coffee as well, preferring a strong medium roast. They brew this in a coffee pot with a strainer in the top to filter out the grounds. I don't think that there is any food he really hates, but he is not fond of shellfish.

@Josh, great idea!

I laughed so hard imagining the cashieer at the sweet shop lol. (And I would say fizzy drinks ;]) I've only just started eating pickles. I want to try american pickles since everyone eats them on tv :O

@Micheal I was sure for a moment in that paragraph I was transported to the Goldshire inn :p

Since PitMad Nick from Vermillion won't stop bothering me so I'm gonna give him alittle limelight.

He loves a good sausage sandwhich with HP sauce. Which his friends think is something to do with him rebelling against his french mother. Like most werewolves he can't handle his hard liquor, but he always orders stella at the pub. Though it has to be the british brewed as the imported gives him the runs for some reason. (don't tell him I said that)

He never had anyfood he didn't really like. But after a job invesigating a shipment of Dullahan heads, he can't go near soft cheeses.

@Michael - I imagined both the poem and movie of Beowulf while reading that. Fried apples and onions sound good. :3 And coffee >w
@Bisky - :3 When I was in New York City, they have a huge M&M's shop and it smelled a lot like chocolate. My adviser didn't want to go inside because she can't stand the smell, so I applied that idea to the story. xD

Pickles are amazing. I ate like 10 of them yesterday when I got home from college for the weekend. :3

Fizzy drinks--I'll keep that in mind. My male lead is a Russian Immigrant, but his mother learned English from a British teacher, so he uses some British language. I'll keep 'fizzy' drinks in mind. In my state, we call it 'pop.' :3

What's HP sauce? Tell him getting the runs isn't something to be ashamed of. In my old draft, my male lead likes to eat fast food tacos, and sometimes he gets 'sick' and that ruins 'intimate' times with Nelly. xD

I can see Nick's reasons. xD

I don't know how to describe HP sauce, its brown and all the men in my family eat it with bacon and sausages :P There is picture of london on the bottle :p Fast food tacos sound horrible :x lol

Kamil | 187 comments According to my side-notes; my heroine has an unhealthy-obsession with the new thing the elves discovered; the cursed substance called choclate covers her face with zits, but that's not stopping her.
The male lead, on the other hand loves bread; a loaf of bread is all he needs to be happy. But that's just a thing from the past, when he lived in poverty and struggled to feed his sibilings

My protagonist wanted to talk about it himself so I let him out of the box for a few seconds.

Hi, my name is Alex. I only drink water. It is not by choice. Earth's food is poisonous to me without the proper antidote. My friends talked a lot about their favorite dish. I believe it is exotic cuisine since they serve it clothed. One day, I will come back just to try it. You might have heard of it; I hear it is very popular. It is called Pizza and they come all-dressed!

Ethan (ecalof) | 16 comments Ooh, so this is a thread I love, partially because I love basing plot points around meals when I write.

Jasmin, who acts as a pseudo-villain, pseudo-sage, thoroughly psycho hacker, is addicted to Cheetos. Like, her cupboards are packed with giant bags, and her fingers are constantly coated with orange cheese dust. It doesn't really hurt that her Cheetos are often combined with marijuana, haha.

Kevyn, my MC, eats like an athlete: lean proteins, vegetable heavy, lots of protein powder. He's got a voracious appetite and loves filling it with sushi, sashimi and other raw fish products, mostly because it's a premium good in my world and he's used to eating mass produced dreck. He likes to drink, despite the fact that he's not even close to legal drinking age in his country, as well as his propensity for puking and bad hangovers. Alcoholism's in his blood.

My FMC, Linsey, is from Alabama and hasn't had a bite of Southern food in five years. She pretends to be a vegetarian because the genetically modified meat at The Academy grosses her out. She'd love nothing more than a big slice of pecan pie, but she never gets it.

@Kamil - I love bread, too. :3 And chocolate is definitely worth the side effects. x3

@G.G. - I love how he calls pizza clothed :3

@Ethan - Cheeto/Dorito fingers gross me out. xD That's why I don't like eating them. Your character reminds me of my female ---person who eats nothing but sweets.

I couldn't imagine having to pose as a vegetarian. D8

@ Bisky - Fast food tacos are sometimes all right, but don't eat them too often. haha

I didn't know there was a sauce to put on bacon. We just fry the bacon and eat it that way. :3

Please share your Bisky Magic. D8 When I eat cheesy things I'm like: Eat a piece, wipe hands on a napkin, eats another piece, wipe hands on a napkin... and so on. xD

@Josh Too funny! I do exactly like you. If I don't have a napkin or a wet clothe by me I just can't eat them. When I was a kid, I would use my clothes to wipe my fingers.

Rick Soper (RickSoper) | 169 comments In The Bainbridge Killings there are multiple mentions of Island Mountain Winery's High Top Red a premium wine made only on Bainbridge that finds it's way to a few investigation scenes

At the beginning of The Rock Star Jake Martin is drowning his sorrows with icy cold Coors Light (My former beer of choice)

Also in the Rock Star The Russians and Rock Star Jimi Christian are continually doing shots of Vodka (which I have always avoided at all cost, because of bouts of memory loss, and pictures of table/bar dancing that involved various clothes being removed)

My favorite restaurant in Visalia gets the nod for its spicy noodle soup they call Khao Soy when future lovers Russell Scott and Amber Cross meet over hot steaming bowls of the noodle soup.

In The Singer the vigilante Gabriel makes a call to the FBI from old Fisherman's Grotto at Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf while eating their incredible clam chowder before hanging up with a smile on his face while diving into a bowl of their Cioppino. (Which happened to the the restaurant I went to on my first date in high school)

In The Rock Star The Twins make a concoction of herbs and roots for Jake Martin that combined with The Twins wild, writhing, and pulsating dancing send him on a mind bending trip that results in his first musical experience
