Brenda Klaassen (librarymom23) I read between 80 and 100 books per year. There are some books that I get really emotional about, others are like a TV show, they are just pure entertainment. I do not speed read.

Monty Cupcake ☠ Queen of Bloodshed ☠ | 7 comments 1. I have no idea. I'd guess & say 10+ a month.
2. I play with my hair while I read. I almost always read in bed. I sometimes feel like I'm mindlessly reading, so I will force myself to stop & picture the scenes in my mind. When the book is exceedingly good & compelling, the pictures pop up into my head w/out an effort.
b - I only speed read when a book is annoying me, but I want to know what happens. Otherwise I generally read normally, but have a bad habit of skipping ahead a few paragraphs & then having to return to my original spot & reread what I missed. It annoys me I do that.

Julie (julie41) I've just reached my target of 50 books this year. I'm very proud of this achievement as I work, have 3 kids and am currently doing a Psychology degree with the Open University. By the end of the year I will have read an average of over 1 a week which is great! The Goodreads annual challenge is a good way to keep track of how many you read in a year. I tend to read in bed - often until sleep overcomes me! Sometimes I can't read the words fast enough if it's a real page-turner - other times I have to re-read if I can't get to grips with the storyline - especially if there is a jump back-and-forth of dates, etc. "The Time Traveller's Wife" is a typical example of that - the poor book was lucky to survive, the amount of flicking back to check dates I did!

Erin Bee (erinbeereads) I read a book month. Sometimes I read two at a time. Unfortunately I own a kindle and it goes with me everywhere, although I prefer actual books (too heavy, when your on the go). Most of my reading is done on my commute because I depend on public transportation. I have a lot of down time at work as well. I have that thing where my eyes move faster then my brain processes so a lot of the time I'll finish a page and not know what I just read or have to go back and reread everything because I missed something.

Linda (silvermatter) | 7 comments I read 10-12 a month. I'm constantly reading on my AirPad which take with me everywhere. (I'm not lazy just recovering from illness the docs want me to do nothing, and its getting really old ;) I read on the patio watching the golfers on the par 3 realizing I'm not as much of a hacker as I thought. Or if I wake up I'll read in bed while hubby snores away. I write down the character phrases, thoughts that feel like me. Regarding the speed, it depends on the book. Most in a series eventually repeat the hero story line so these are a definite fast read. I'm always looking for another author to follow reading slowly If the book is a yawn I force myself to finish.

message 8: by Jessica (new)

Jessica I read every night before I go to bed. I usually read 50+ pages a night, but it also depends on how good the book is too. I have a nook tablet that I read from sometimes. I prefer physical copies, but I'm starting to enjoy the ebook versions too.

Marya | 5 comments I read about thirty books a year.I mainly read literary fiction with an emphasis on Southern fiction. I usually read in bed or at the kitchen table. I feel very fortunate that I love reading. I love to get lost in the stories. My current book is The Dinner by Herman Koch.

Omama | 1 comments i read one book in about 3 days, 2 if i like it alot; that makes about 10 per month... anyway sometimes i like detail, but mostly if it is part of a series i'm in a rush to start the next book... if that's the case i read the dialogues only, and restrict myself to important details only!

message 12: by BLT (new)

BLT i read about 110 to 120 books per month --> about 2 per day
I'm a very fast reader a 400 page book can take me 2 hours but i read every word and dive deeply into the book.
i'll probably read the first few books of a series and leave it there for the next few months then start over and finish it
when i speed read i simply read the words without diving in, and skip over the adjectives.

message 13: by Beth (new)

Beth Knowles | 1 comments I average about a book per week so around 50 per year. I am a painfully slow reader because of dyslexia, I generally have to re-read sentences or sometimes whole paragraphs to really understand. I also like to look things up online after I read about it in a book and get side tracked a lot!

message 14: by Dani (new)

Dani | 1 comments -I can read 3 books in a few days but sometimes I take a hiatus and don't actively read something for a few more days so idk how many books that would be a month lol.
-I'm a fast reader. If the story doesn't draw me in, then I skip a lot. If the book is engrossing then it will play out like a movie in my head. I've accidentally said that I just "saw" that book instead "read" it lol.
-I can speed read, especially if the plot is good and I really want to know what happens!
