fonderRe: whirrs at 8251, it's exactly how I'd spell this word - whirrs, whirred, whirring etc. Must be an English v American spelling issue? It's in my Collins English dictionary. The OED accepts both whir and whirr

I think the question was about your stirry in post 8250

Ah - then I stand corrected. I can't find stirry in the OED ether. It's a word in common use here, but must be slang - a stirry old cow is one that's likely to knock you down in the yard, for example.And I messed up my next move too!
