As an aspiring writer myself looking to publish soon I don't want to be overly critical but there are typos and confusing sentences in your synopsis alone. So I can only assume that the book itself is serious need of editing. Also the race doesn't make alot of sense. A free society without currency or government built on trade, theft, and mandatory military service? Wouldn't the military be running things? Also if they are paid in gold and jewels isn't that a currency?

As a reader I appreciate well-edited books, and lazy editing is one of my biggest pet-peeves.

B.J. - as a marketing/advertising thing, you may want to try to shrink your synopsis down by about half. It gives away too many details about the world you've built but, probably because it's just a synopsis, the world doesn't sound believable. Also, there are some sentences that strike my eye as grammar and usage errors in it - shortening the synopsis would help by eliminating those. For example, you probably don't need to mention the Tuatara's economy and treatment of military veterans.
