Vijaya Schartz (vijayaschartz) | 201 comments History of Friday the 13th: On Friday, October 13, 1307, hundreds of Knights Templar were arrested in France, an action motivated financially and undertaken by the efficient royal bureaucracy to increase the prestige of the crown. Philip IV falsely charged the Templars with heresy, immorality and abuses. The Pope fearing the French king might not wait for the Church, ratified the arrests. But way before that, Christ was crucified on a Friday, and the number 13 in Tarot cards is death. Some cultures consider that number lucky, others unlucky.
If you like medieval history, read the Curse of the Lost Isle series, an edgy 5-star series reuniting history with legends.
