The amusement war is really awful. While this reminiscence seems initially to be about these mysterious chairs with some peculiar additions Locke has made, I can't help wondering if Locke will be back to teach these nobles a lesson.

So this is where the boats seem to come in. Apparently they are being forced to become Pirates. The proposed plan is they cause havoc to increase Stravos funding.

Merrain apparently doesn't work for Stragos, but has been serving him as a representative of some unknown party he seems to be aligned with.

Hanne (hanne2) the amusement war had me sick to my stomach. i was so hoping that locke would make the rich remember (as chains put it so mildly). i think he will be back, there's not really a point otherwise to the story. except perhaps to make me like locke a bit more.

i'm wondering how the pirate scheme and the requin scheme will fit together. surely requin will wonder where his two new men are all the time?

The amusement war I saw as a bit of a warning, where our modern way of entertaining ourselves can lead to. With all the game shows like Survivor, Big Brother et al. we're just one step away from that kind of entertainment. And the reasoning behind it is often the same.
Some people already go on those shows, because they are desperate for the money prize.

I wonder, if we're going to see Trav again. Wouldn't be much of a point to establish him and then just let him drop out of the story again.
