We all know about the textbook so often referenced in Harry Potter. Well, according to Entertainment Weekly, J.K. Rowling and Time Warner are beginning to negotiate a possible movie franchise based around this companion novel. What do you think? Should they do it? Or should filmmakers just leave HP alone? I personally don't want another movie nor more books because I feel like they will never be as good as the originals and I really don't want HP to become really drawn out and cash cowed like Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter series.

I'm really happy this is happening! I don't live in the right area and it costs too much to ship them from Amazon, so the movies will be great! Also JKR is writing the script herself, which is awesome.
Yeah, I'm interested to see how her screenplay will turn out! Though this probably won't be released for a good 3 or so years :( I know in the novella she wrote on this, Ron and Harry were writing it or something. Do you think they might try to get Daniel and Rupert on board ? I can't imagine why they would do it because it seems that all the Potter kids are trying to distance themselves as much as possible from the franchise.
I like the fact that JKR is writing the script herself and I'm actually really excited for the movie! I don't think it will drag out the franchise just because it's only a reference book in the HP world so it'll probably just end up becoming more of a back story to the books, as opposed to bringing back all the old actors for seven more movies or something insane like that.
Good point Damieka. Part of me is very very excited, I definitely will see this at midnight, but I also don't want Harry potter to be ruined by a bad movie. With j.k Rowling writing though, at least the script should be great!!
I thought it was a joke in class, my friend and I looked at each other and "wow, this CAN'T be true", but alas it is...
They still need to cast people and find a director and do a bunch of other stuff. So it'll be awhile.
Why do I get the feeling that if the beasts will have voices, at least one will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch?
