The Husband’s Secret – Liane MoriartyI'm reading this now. I'm 25% through this book and I'm starting to get really frustrated with it. Is that woman EVER going to open that damn letter???? I thought she was the protagonist (sounds that way from the book's description), but I'm actually starting to lose interest in her and liking one of the other women better--the one whose husband falls in love with the cousin. With all the good reviews, I have to assume at some point this is all going to come together, but when????

Yes it does. I can't remember how far into the book, but it's SO good. I didn't find myself getting frustrated to the point of losing interest in her. I figured she'd open the letter at some point. I don't want to say much more because I'm afraid I'll give something away.

I just got this at the library because of your review, Stacy! Haven't started it yet, but I loved What Alice Forgot, so I have high hopes. Beth, I can't wait to hear what you think when you finish it! It def sounds frustrating - I tend to get annoyed with heroines who act kind of wishy-washy, too ;)

Beth & Melanie, I just finished this book as well and LOVED IT. I got frustrated with it as well wondering how all these women are connected and when Cecelia would open the freaking letter. Trust me, it comes together! Just keep powering through - when you see how it connects, you won't be able to stop like Stacy and me. :)

P.S. I really liked this book too. I believe Stephanie Evanovich is Janet Evanovich's niece...I haven't read Janet's books before (but I plan to!), and I REALLY enjoyed this one.

I loved that book so much, I want to go back and read it again. I wish I would've bought it instead of getting it from the library. I may still buy it just to give props to the author. :)

Stacy, that's how I feel too! I bought it on my Kindle since it was due back to the library before I finished it, but I wish I had bought a hard copy so I can display it on my book shelf for the world to see. Haha.

I read it on the treadmill lunchtime and I finally know the secret. Actually, I had guessed it because I thought it was the non-obvious way to go with the plot but would still tie all the characters together. Now it's finally getting good! I can't wait to see where the author goes with the story. I just wish she hadn't taken so long to get the reader to this point.

I read way too late last night because I had to get to the part where she finally opened the letter before I went to sleep! I had kind of guessed it, but it's still pretty exciting - can't wait to find out what happens next. I wish I didn't have to work or I'd be reading right now!

"The Husband's Secret"You guessed it?!? Wow, I had absolutely no idea!
The only reason I guessed it is because everyone kept talking about the twists and turns. I thought the author was purposefully making that one guy (I don't want to name him because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but since you read it you must know who I mean) look like one the who did it, so I figured it couldn't be him because that would be too obvious. She also laid some non-obvious clues about the one who really did it. Plus, by that point in the book it had to be a character we were already introduced to, so that limited the choices.
Sometimes I have a hard time shutting off my "author brain" when I'm reading a book. I thought her build-up was too slow, but once the reveal happened, I really enjoyed the rest of it. 4-1/2 stars!

What had me confused was when Janie was talking about the pills. I thought she killed herself until we found out what really happened. That's my only complaint about the book - I don't understand why the pills were brought into the story and then given no explanation. Or why Janie referred to it as the last day of her life. Not sure if I missed something or what....

Not sure if I missed something or what.... Yeah, there were a few inconsistencies like that. And that omniscient narrator thing threw me. It was unclear if it was Janie's thoughts at that time, or after she was dead looking back. That's the kind of thing an editor is supposed to catch.
