Forever (readforeverpub) | 5 comments As a publisher, we were wondering if we could add an ISBN to a book. The e-book version releases October '13, and the print version releases in July '14. These have different ISBNs and we are not able to offer a giveaway until the print ISBN is available on Goodreads.

Thanks!

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments What you need is a record for each book edition; those records are then combined to show as one book with multiple editions. You can add a new edition like adding a new book and then post here asking to have the editions combined, or you can just post with the details of the new edition and we'll combine them after creating it.

Then you'll be able to tie your giveaway to the record for the print edition.

Forever (readforeverpub) | 5 comments GREAT info! Thank you so much for your help.

One more question - if a book is only getting a digital edition, but we would like to run a giveaway (offering print copies), is there a way to post the giveaway? We are seeing right now that if the book is listed only as an e-book the GR system does not allow for a giveaway, even if it is for a printed copy.

Thanks!

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments The printed edition would need a book record here on Goodreads.

Dave Pounder (davepounder) | 18 comments My book, "Obscene Thoughts", has both an ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 number. How can I assign both of these ISBNs to my GoodReads book record so that when users search for either ISBN my book will appear? Currently only the ISBN-10 is assigned to my book on GoodReads.

ISBN-10: 1479203068
ISBN-13: 978-1479203062

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Dave, edition records have both an ISBN-10 and an ISBN-13 field, so both can be filled in at once. It looks like your book already has both set and is searchable by either.

Dave Pounder (davepounder) | 18 comments I see it now, thanks. For some reason when I was creating an Ad in the GoodReads Ad Platform I was unable to find my book using the ISBN13, but I guess it works now :) Thanks for getting back to be so quickly! :)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments Search on goodreads can be odd sometimes (I think they are also doing some work currently on the search backend). Instead of a general search, you may get better results if you put two slashes before the isbn when searching (search format is "title / author / isbn " so searching "/ Robert Brown" searches in author field for "Robert Brown" or searching "/ / 978########" looks in isbn field ...) If isbn10 has an "X" then capitalization matters to goodreads search.
