QUESTION 1

In reading through only the first chapter, what hints to do see here of the world the author is creating? In other words, how do we know what type of world we are in? What did you observe?

QUESTION 2

There is some foreshadowing in this novel. That means that the author is showing us hints early on that might hint to things that happen later and/or to the overall tone of the story. Did you notice any instances of foreshadowing in the first pages? Did you see any repetition of anything that might have caught your eye?

Noella--I'm not sure I want to open your posts because they all say "view spoiler" and I'm not finished with the novel yet. So far we are focusing on the first 50 pages.

In regards to Question 2, I love how she makes various references to shadows. Did anyone else catch that? I will post the exact sentences tomorrow when I have my book with me. (I'm in Key West at a writing seminar and I'm at a Dunkin Donuts so I have internet access. It's raining here and I didn't want to bring the book in the rain).
