Okay I finished.... I think I've decided that most Fantasy books are not for me.. There is a fine line between what I like about Fantasy books and what I dislike.. To me this book was TOO MUCH fantasy I couldn't even wrap my head around it. I like Karou in the beginning but by the end I was over her for no particular reason and I truly never fell for Akiva.. I probably won't be continuing this series.

So I'm about to start chapter 9 and I have to say I'm intrigued by the book now. I don't know about you but it was hard to get in to at first. Also, why was chapter seven just placed in there? It seemed kind of random to me and I think if the author wanted to incorporate the handprints it could have been done more smoothly.

Chpt 1-12: I haven't decided if I like Karou or not. (view spoiler)[I do feel sorry for her, growing up among an eclectic mix of "people" and not necessarily knowing whether you are loved or just kept for a purpose.

I do like Zuzana and her being such a good friend to Karou. I understand the need for secrecy, but it's difficult to maintain a friendship or relationship when you are constantly lying or hiding.

I love Brimstone's simple rule: "Don't put anything unnecessary into yourself..."

I'm glad that Karou isn't pining over the beautiful but unloyal Kaz. I truly dislike stories where the girls still love the jerk who broke their hearts.

Zuzana's giant puppet master would be so cool! Can they make a movie, just so I can see this, the chimaeras and the flying fight scene.

Izil was so noble to protect Karou, but why would he die to protect her from the angel? What is going on with all the hand prints burning onto Brimstone's doors.

Where is that other world? Why did Karou follow them, when Brimstone was so adamant about keeping her out? I can't believe Brimstone threw her out.

Chpt 27-35: Well, this is definitely NOT a love at first sight book. LOL (view spoiler)[But I was embarrassed that the angel beat Karou so easily, so I was glad when they had a rematch. LOVE that Karou convinced Akiva take a bow.

What is up with Karou's tattoos being a weapon against the angel? Interesting and lucky, since she only had a small knife on her again. When you know someone is stalking you, please, please bring weapons!

Learning about Akiva's history was cool. And it was sweet that he was surprised that he told her those stories. How sad that he was bred to be a killer starting at age 5.

The price of magic is pain. So the teeth represent pain. That's why the biggest wish is when you pull all your own teeth out yourself. Ewwww.

I'm glad that Zuzana likes Akiva. I value her opinion. I'm also glad that Brimstone left Karou with money so she isn't destitute and alone.

The meeting with Akiva's siblings didn't go well. Liraz tried to kill Karou and Hazael was very confused when Akiva turned on them to protect Karou.

Chpt 37-60 (end): Madrigal and Akiva (view spoiler)[were another Romeo and Juliet couple from different warring worlds.

Why did breaking the wishbone restore Karou's memories of Madrigal? I like it that the reincarnations of chimaera had their memories of previous lives intact. Of course, they would remember each of their deaths which would be horrible.

Madrigal's death was so sad. She was so brave. Oh no, so Karou saw Thiago when she went through the door.

And darn that Chiro, jealous stepsister. I say beware of anyone with the head of a jackal.

I hope that Brimstone and Issa are still alive. It's so horrible that Akiva has been taking out his anger on the chimaera. I hope Karou/Madrigal can forgive him.
