Yeah, the writing is Laini's strong set. The romance is a little cringey in this series, but I think it's amazing how much she grew as a storyteller before Strange the Dreamer.

Chapter 10 (view spoiler)[ So the audio is just fine. Having no problem sinking in while listening even at 2.0x. I am wondering when this story is going to get started though. I feel like these first 10 chapters while having a little history and a tiny bit of world building have been kind of just filler. Ready for this to get into where we are going. Finished: Ok I just have to make note that there are like 30 chapters between my last update and now but I was so absorbed that I forgot to update. Here are my thoughts. (view spoiler)[ Surprisingly I loved the backstory with Madrigal it explained so many things.. so many plot holes were filled and made so much more sense now. I also love the story of the 2 sister moons I'm wondering if the story is going to play off that more in the future. That ending though.. my heart is so freaking broken right now for her.. I had put this book off for quite some time due to some really mixed reviews that I've seen and I really regret my decision to do that. It was really good and very creative and really surprised me in the long run. I'm definitely down to continue this series. (hide spoiler)]

Would it be possible for Karou to have been made somehow by the teeth Brimstone collects? (that sounds much weirder than it did in my head) Considering that the title is Daughters of Smoke and Bone, and a tooth is a bone, and the angel said she wasn't human, I just got that feeling. It's so neat seeing how each side, chimera and seraph, have their own explanations for why things happen, and how naive they are to the other side's struggles. The way they're just talking it over and realizing how flawed it is is great. I really like Akiva, and I love seeing Karou's development into a fighter. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ so, madrigal was executed, and it sounds like she was supposed to be undone, or essentially deleted, but Brimstone saved her. Sheds a different light on him. It's really interesting how the teeth are used to build new bodies for the Chimaera, it's not like anything I've read before.

It seems like Thiago is one of the people laying on the stone benches through the door in Brimstone's workshop. He is also the one who assaulted Karou. I wonder if that stems from jealousy, for him wanting to marry her, and her choosing an angel. And why are they dead-asleep in what's essentially Brimstone's basement? The plot thickens....
