But I kind of liked her and Akiva not being together anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love them together, but I needed a little angst and sadness. She couldn't forgive him after what he did, even if he didn't have the intention to hurt her.

Oh my God... I'm still shocked that Brimstone died... He was so wise and good to her. A gentle soul.

He won't tell her anything or give her any of the big wishes. But, I do like the family feel with Issa and Yasri. It's cool that she can just go through a door and be somewhere completely different. But Issa has to let her back into the shop. What if they decide not to let her back in at all and just leave? (hide spoiler)]

Karou is still awesome. She is light hearted, funny but yet deep and pained at the same time. Loved how she talked about love and butterflies. Hope she can find happiness and love. (Not Kaz) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I feel bad for Karou. She is alone, except for Zuzana (who is awesome) with no family. She lost the people who raised her. I thought it was both stupid and smart to go after the hunters that have wishes. On one hand, she needs the wishes. On the other hand, they are ruthless hunters who will for sure come after her. Wonder how that's going to work out. Razgut is really creepy. He will braid her hair!! EWWWW. So creepy. Akiva is being a total stalker, but I like him. Can't wait to see what happens there.

Lets just talk about Zuzana. She is totally awesome. She stayed with Karou, even after she told her the truth. And she's hilarious. She lightens up a dark situation. I'm going to be sad when Karou leaves with the creep to the portal. (hide spoiler)]

They just show up and try to cart Akiva off. Hope Karou will kick their butts. (hide spoiler)]

They were bound to have some sort of conflict in their relationship. They were always together and happy. But I do hope that Karou eventually forgives him. Chapters 1-12: (view spoiler)[ I love Karou and how she makes wishes. Also, I found Kaz to be really annoying. Haha...I love the scene where she wishes for Kaz to get an itch. Also, I love the banter between Karou and Zuzana. I remember when I first read this book, I wondered what Akiva was doing by marking and burning the doors. Now, I see that marking the doors and burning them down is to seal the door so chimaera can’t go through. Brimstone is actually an intriguing character. I hope to find out more about him. Chapters 13-25: (view spoiler)[ I felt sad for Karou when she saw the portals burn. However, I really loved that she wanted to do something about it. It made me love her character more. The first time Akiva and Karou meet is one of my favourite scenes. I think that he was not able to kill Karou because she reminds him of Madrigal. Another character I felt sad for was Izîl because he made his wish for knowledge without acknowledging the consequences that comes with it. Also, I feel sad for him because he was trapped by Razgut. I really want to know why they have to kill the chimaera and I wish that Akiva will tell Karou who is she. Akiva cannot die. I love his character. He is protective. Ending Thoughts (Chapters 39-Epilogue): (view spoiler)[ I am intrigued by the concept of putting souls into new bodies. I wonder if Madrigal is Brimstone’s daughter and she died, so he put Madrigal’s soul into Karou’s body. Also, I wonder if Karou means rebirth or reincarnation. The world that Laini Taylor created is beautiful. The story, the characters, and the world itself are wonderful and fascinating. I hope Brimstone is alive. Also, I love that we got to know him more through Karou’s drawings and memories. I can’t wait to reread book 2. (hide spoiler)]
