First five chapters free!

Yeah, I posted that in S&L awhile ago, but didn't bother here. Personally I don't bother with free chapters of books I have pre-ordered.

I don't like the notion of starting a book that I can't finish.

Same here. Free chapters are helpful in making a decision about getting a book or not, but when I already decided to read it anyway I'll wait for the release.
