Pollyanna Darling (pollyanna_darling) | 4 comments Hi all. I'm running a giveaway for my latest book Heartwood and I'd love some help getting the word out there (or enter if you fancy reading it!). The giveaway runs until April 25. Would also love any other ideas you might have about getting the word out on a self-published book, something I have had some difficulties with in the past.
Thanks. Warm regards, Pollyanna

Brenda M. (haygram) | 8 comments Thanks Cat,
I love to write children's books. I do have to pay an illustrator but it's worth it to see a child read my books.
I also have an adult novel coming out late summer.
I love going to events and marketing my books. I've learned so much and enjoy helping other authors avoid the mistakes I've made.

Donald Stidham (donaldstidham) | 4 comments We need to start a Children’s book review group. For example:
1. Say there are 10 of us in the group. (for easy math) Our books average $10 on Amazon and we make $5 profit off a sale.
2. On a given day, we all go online and personally buy the 9 other books (so shipping is about $20)
3. Okay, I just made 9 sales equaling $45 profit, and I spent $110 total on the books and shipping..
4. I just paid a total of $65 for 9 reviews…that’s $7.22 per review.
5. But upon completion of the book, each author gives the copy of the 9 books to a reading friend and gets them to agree to setup a Goodreads account or go on Amazon and rate and review the books when they are finished. That’s 18 reviews in a month or less for $65 equaling $3.60 per review.
6. Now, if each author posts something on their social network about each book, then the fire can spread to other readers. It could be powerful because of this scenario…I know Amanda from our small circle of 10 authors, but I don’t know Amanda’s friend Stacey, who received my book for free to review, after Amanda is finished. I’m in no way connected to Stacey, but she has 400 friends on Facebook (20 of which are avid readers) My book just caught the attention of 20 fresh eyes…that times 9 unique friends of our group equals…more exposure.

It’s just a thought—without the confusion, personally purchasing my books, mailing them, and waiting on reviews, like the other Review Groups that exist.

Kirstin Lenane (kirstinlenane) | 7 comments Hi Goodreads children's community. I am excited to be a new member here.

I just published my first book on Amazon Kindle, titled, "The Scare: A Halloween Story," on sale this week for 99 cents!

Simon loves everything about Halloween: the candy, the costumes… but what he loves most is scaring others. Last year, he invited Jim to his house for a Halloween party, but before Jim even arrived at Simon’s front stoop, Simon had scared him away. This year, Jim has invited Simon to his house for a party. Everything appears very un-scary, but he has some tricks up his sleeve. Both young and older readers will enjoy this delightfully chilling tale about two best friends.

If you happen to like the book, I would love to hear from you and would be happy to reciprocate any comments or likes.

Thank you!

message 78: by Panisoara (new)

Panisoara (OPanisoara) | 3 comments The seven medals of success presents the adventures of two children who win, one by one, the medals of courage, cooperation, curiosity, patience, creativity, perseverance and empathy. In their journey they are accompanied by Memo, the dwarf of their memory; he reminds them certain events in their life and they learn the rules of each psychological characteristic.
The book contains stories for children about developing personal success skills and it is based on psychological and pedagogical studies. Every chapter of the book has a Parent's Corner, with a short description of the psychological concepts and exercises for developing each personal trait. Also, every chapter includes a poem because psycho-pedagogical studies demonstrate children learn easier by combining the linguistic and the „musical” intelligence.
We, the authors are university researchers and professors: G. Panisoara has a Ph.D. in Psychology and I.O. Panisoara has a Ph.D. in Educational Sciences.
The patience poem (fragment from the ebook)
Do you know Trici – the caterpillar?
She cried: her beauty was no thriller
But time marched on, as it went by
She turned to a fine butterfly
Here is why:
You want time to pass by quicker,
“I want to play now,” you dicker,
You want to grow up much faster.
But patience is what you must master.
If you have patience you will learn
To calm yourself and wait your turn
Step by step you will succeed
Patience is the thing you need.
