Librian In this book, the author has a way of making radical statements that will shatter everything you think you know about Christ, and then he softens the blow by giving you a fresh perspective that makes you see God in a whole new light. By the end of this book you will have definitely met Jesus again and for the first time. I especially like how the book begins. The author allows the reader to think back on their childhood and remember on all the things that you were taught or told about Jesus. And he also shares his lessons as well. And then that's where the cookie crumbles because in your mind you feel that you know who God is and you know all about him. But the thing that the author teaches in the book is that it is not about religion or doctrine. It is about faith, liberation, and most importantly a relationship with Christ. I know there will be some that will say, Oh I knew that. But just read this book and see if it dont blow your mind. From a theological stand point, everything that you thought about the bible is not true. I will say you have to be open minded when you read this book. Its about the journey we take with god and our faith. One of the most important lessons that I have learned through this author is that it doesn't matter whether the events in the bible actually took place, or if those exact quotes were said, it's the lesson that we can apply to our lives that's important. The author talks about Pharoh and the people in Egypt and how they were in bondage. It doesnt matter if that actually happened, but the message the author conveyed and the suggestion it gives to the reader is imperative. What is holding you in bondage? Can you be set free from the ties that bind you? Thats powerful because a lot of us dont even know that we are in bondage. Read this book.

Jerry Zehr I agree - I think its a great book - Marcus Borg has helped me see christianity in a way that I can beleive in Jesus and his teachings- I nver bought into the classic theological framework- that the church created
