Why Zebra?

I mean I can understand Signet...but Zebra? Just curious if anyone can explain this.

Maggie MacKeever used to write for Fawcett, Doubleday, Pocketbooks, Putnam (under various names) before she wrote for Zebra. She stopped writing for about 15 years and then started up again.

and yes zebras are pretty cute.
