Just getting started :-)

Hello! I thought about waiting until the 2014 New Year to start this self-imposed challenge, but why keep God waiting? My edition of the Bible is an NIV and has 2190 pages.

My reading plan: If I read 6 days per week (gave myself one day off), at a rate of about 7-8 pages per day, I will finish the entire Bible one year from today... which will be September 2014.

How is everybody else doing?

I made today my start day I want to go from beginning to end instead of round and around like some plans I saw. All is well. :-)

Ashley, how is your Bible reading coming along? A couple of years ago, I joined a group of women to read the Bible chronologically, which I had never done before. We would meet twice a month to discuss what we read, and how God was revealing Himself and His character throughout the entire Bible. It was such an amazing experience! The stories all make so much more sense when read in the order that they occurred, particularly the Psalms. Our group is in it's third cycle of reading through (although I skipped the 2nd one), and so I'm just getting back into it, and constantly am amazed at God's grace and love throughout the Old Testament in particular. It continues to blow my mind that although He knows how much we would mess up, He gives us opportunities to choose to do right. I literally just cannot begin to fathom His love!

This is a really good video on the overarching theme of the Bible. I find it so helpful to watch every now and then, when I start to focus more on how the Bible affects me and how to "apply it to my life", then on how the Bible is all about God, and what He's teaching me about Himself.

Well, I kinda fell off the reading wagon... but I'm back on again! I'm about half way through Genesis, trying to get a head start on the 2015 challenge.
