Kyle Dean The reason I picked the book They Called Themselves The KKK is because I have always been interested in history. Also, I enjoy seeing parts of history or scenes in another point of view. This book is extremely detailed and told me more about the KKK than I ever knew before. The thing I liked best about this book is that the book could go deeper into detail then we are allowed to go in school. Another thing I enjoyed is that I could see it from the KKK's perspective rather than just someone who learned about it. This book is also more graphic and detailed then I have ever learned before in past experiences with the topic. I didn't have a part in the book that I liked the least. This is because I learned more on every page, and never heard anything I didn't like or I didn't want to hear. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to learn about history in deeper detail, or anyone that likes to know more about slavery. I agree with 528_tracy when she said "They Called Themselves the KKK: The Birth of an American Terrorist group is a vivid account of the rise of the KKK at the end of the Civil War. Susan Campbell Bartoletti clearly did her research in this thorough account of the Klan. The book details a fascinating and horrifying time period in American History, from the birth of the Klan in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1866, through the end of the Reconstruction period." Overall this book was exceptional, and I enjoyed it very much.
