||♔|| HIstoric Overview ||♚||
[Early Life] Two years after her sister, Cécile, was born on the longest day of the year, at dusk, she was born on the shortest, at dawn. She was born in the enormous residence of her noble parents, and they rejoiced at her birth. Already their first daughter was a difficult child, and although they were at first slightly disappointed that Odette was not a son, her demure demeanour won over both her parents. Her father took a particular shine to her. Cécile, however, disliked her immediately. Immediately after her birth, she was betrothed to Jasper Beachene, the son of one of her Émeric's closest friends. Since his birth, Jasper had also been like a son to him, and the betrothal gave Émeric the opportunity to leave his fortune to a man who he believed would be a worthy heir. His future son-in-law.
[Childhood] Émeric lavished every known luxury upon his favoured daughter, while ignoring his second daughter. As the favouritism became more obvious, Cécile became increasingly hostile to Odette, and even more so to her father. Their mother also began to favour Odette when Cécile's behaviour worsened, and this drove a rift between them, too. Odette did not understand her sister's strange behaviour. She did not understand why her sister loathed her father so much, nor why she went out of her way to disagree with him. She did not understand why Cécile would sometimes try to theorize about why criminals had committed crimes, when breaking the law was just...wrong. She did not understand why Cécile went out of her way to disobey their father, and had such a rebellious spirit. More so, she did not understand why Cécile hated her so much. Her sister went out of her way to torment her, and she could not understand why. Eventually, Odette began to fight back. She used her power as their father's favourite against her sister whenever her sister began an argument, and always attempted to be at her most angelic in her sister's presence so that she could see what a true lady ought to behave like.
She had many slaves to attend her, but she never really bonded with any of them on a close level. One day, however, her father brought home Amelie, and gave her to Odette as a present for her birthday. Amelie was only three years older than Odette. Over the years, the two grew closer. Amelie was sweet and kind, efficient in her work but also skilled in the art of conversation, and most importantly, she had a heart of gold.
[Adolescence] As she grew, her betrothed became an increasingly important figure in her life, as did her in-laws-to-be, They became as important to her as her own family, for family was what they were soon to be. Of course, this only meant that Cécile developed a hatred for them, too, and went out of her way to be at her worst whenever they were around. Odette became even more ashamed of her sister, wishing she could only learn to behave like a proper lady. But then the dreams began, terrible nightmares of bloodshed and death, and the whispers. She thought she was going mad. She kept them to herself, but made one exception. She told Amelie.
[Adulthood](Only if needed) She has only recently entered what could be considered adulthood, and she knows that now, her betrothal is serious. Plans for a wedding are being made, and soon her world will change. Still, she gets the feeling that somehow, it will stay the same, too.
[Family]
Jasper Beauchesne -- betrothed
Rosemonde Beauchene -- future mother-in-law
{Mother} Adeline Leblanc
{Father} Émeric Leblanc
{Siblings (If any)} Cécile Leblanc
[Friends] Odette is friends with many of the noble girls, as well as her slave, Amelie.
[Enemies] Cécile is the only name that comes to mind when she hears the word 'enemy.' Although the two are sisters, their relationship has never been a perfect one.
[Other] Odette has a beautiful singing voice, a sweet soprano that, although high and ethereal, is not screechy. She can paint, draw and embroider with great skill, and also writes and makes up stories. She has many slaves to attend her, but her favourite os Amelie. Her favourite colours are cream, gold, pink, black and white.

Jasper has always been the perfect aristocrat, with his charming demeanor and social ease among both his peers and those in lower standing than him alike. Betrothed since he was four years old to Odette Leblanc, he is as close to his fiance's family as he is to his own, and spends equal amounts of time between the two estates. He is thankful that his fiance is how he has been taught that a woman should be: kind, submissive, and innocent. He is unknowingly rather demeaning to the fairer sex, thinking them not on par with men as far as mental solidity. This is quite possibly a reason why he and his future sister-in-law having a long, complicated feud . . . but Jasper is quite ignorant as to how he can come across to both women and those underneath him in position.
This does not mean he is a terrible person, however. He is quite kind and understanding to the best of his abilities, always ready with a kind word for anyone in his immediate circles, including slaves. He is the epitome of aristocratic grace, far more suited to the dance floor than the hunting grounds. He is witty and easily prone to laughter if there is a good joke. He loves quietly and passionately, making no attempt to hide the deep affection he holds towards his fiance. He has not taken the time to pick apart the reasons why he loves her; he simply does because he knows that, one day, they shall be married per their family's arrangements. And while such a persona make give Jasper the impression of being a simple man, he is still quite sharp when it comes to numbers, strategy, and finances.

Born into a long line of rich, influential families, Jasper has been raised with the world at his fingertips. He has known nothing but luxury, and while this has spoiled him to a large degree, it has not ruined him. This is due to the fact that he has a diligent father who was careful to instruct and raise his son in the way of a gentleman, as well as making sure his son knew how to properly manage the estate he would one day inherit.
But this did not mean that Jasper was a perfectly obedient son, for he has ideas of his own and this prompted him to enlist as a gentleman officer in the French army. While his family was at first quite upset about this turn of events, they have now grown reluctantly accepting. And as the years went by and both he and his fiance grew, Jasper took to spending more and more time at the Leblanc estate with his wife-to-be, happily finding himself in love.
With the unrest in the country, Jasper knows he will one day be called should rebellion arise, but he is quite content to stay in the country in his quiet life. He cares nothing for the messy tangle and fighting of politics, sparing little thought . . . though he is often told by his father that he should change his stance on such matters. Jasper then told him he would rather leave the country than fight, and he holds to this secret plan, not even telling his fiance of it. His pacifist ways are often looked down upon and mocked if ever mentioned, deemed unmanly and cowardly by all. For while an open man, Jasper has his pride.

[Details]
{Eyes} It it through Émeric's eyes that one can most easily tell what mood he is in. Despite being grey, Émeric's eyes are not dull. They are captivating. When he is in a good mood, they lighten, making it look as if a silver mist swirls within his sockets. When he is angered, they darken, taking on the appearance of miniature storm=clouds.
{Hair Colour} Émeric's hair is dark brown in colour, though there are are several strands of grey. But they are almost unnoticeable.
{Hairstyle} His hair is short and always neatly trimmed, There is never a strand out of place, nor is his hair ever dull or lifeless.
{Skin tone} Émeric has the glowing porcelain skin that identifies him as a Leblanc. A few subtle wrinkles indicate that he is ageing.
{Imperfections} There are wrinkles around his eyes and mouth, and grey hairs are beginning to integrate themselves with his glossy brown mane.
{General Dressing style} The man is always impeccably dressed, and his suits are always expensive. The revolution has passed, and he does not care if he offends the peasantry. He does not care if they see his expensive clothes as him flaunting his wealth. The least they can do is leave him alone, since they murdered his friends and forced him to flee during their ridiculous revolution. He does not deliberately go overboard, but he does dress nicely.
||♔|| Personality Traits ||♚||
[Fears/Phobias] Émeric fears dangerous people. The thing is, he sees all criminals as dangerous. He also sees everyone who resents the nobility as dangerous. The revolution did that to him. It changed him. It made him paranoid. He already lived through one, and he is unsure whether he could live through another. More importantly, he is uncertain whether Odette could survive through one. And although he would never admit it, he fears Cécile, because that rebellious spirit inside her is far too familiar. It not only represents something he loathes, it represents something he fears. He fears another revolution, but not enough to change his ways. He sees it as more of a war, and he is determined to fight back until he takes his final breath.
[Likes] Émeric likes luxurious and expensive things. Not only does he enjoy owning them, but he likes his youngest daughter, Odette, to have them. He gives them to his eldest more out of pride, for he would not like other people to think that she goes without, but he likes spoiling Odette and he knows it makes her happy, which he also likes. He likes listening to music and attending the ballet and theatre, mostly because these are things he can do with his daughter.
[Dislikes] Émeric dislikes anyone of a lower station who dares to oppose him, be it in a major or minor ways. As well as fearing those with a rebellious spirit, he also loathes them, as the first rebellion took a lot away from him. He almost hates his daughter, Cécile, as she is slowly beginning to represent everything he detests. He dislikes criminals, too.
[Personality] Émeric is not all that he seems to be. Be angry with him if you wish, but do not hate him, for he is not truly a bad person. He is the ultimate grey area, which is ironic, considering he sees no grey area. He thinks only in terms of black and white, but this makes sense, considering his past. He does not see the anger of the revolutionaries, only the blood they shed, the blood of those he loved, and all that they took from him. He does not see that criminals might be justified, only that they might harm his wife and daughter, and then he would be truly alone in the world. He thinks in terms of threats and danger, and he keeps Odette in a gilded cage because he knows no other way to keep her safe. As a child, he spent years in hiding. His cage was not a gilded one. He also lavishes gifts upon his daughter, which might unintentionally provoke possible rebels, because he believes she should have all that he did not during those years when he was in hiding. There is a lot to this man beneath the surface. He can be cold, harsh and hateful. He can be calculating and manipulative. But he will do anything to keep his family safe, and to avenge his childhood friend.
To Odette, he is a loving father, though he is far more overprotective than most. Of course, most noble fathers shelter their daughters, but he takes it to another level. With Odette, the line between love and manipulation is blurred, but he needs to manipulate her in order to keep her safe. She needs to fear the outside world, and be absolutely obedient to him and Jasper, in order to be safe. Even if that means he has trained her to think badly of her own sister. It is necessary.
He is less manipulative towards Adeline. He does not need to use trickery on her, as she knows of his past and she sees the danger in the world. She helps him accomplish his goals, making her almost an equal partner. But there are times when even she needs to be persuaded, and he is not above it.
Cécile is a different matter. He tries everything on her. He tries persuasion, as he is hoping to love her one day. He does not want to loathe his own daughter, and he knows that he does not truly hate her. But he sees something dangerous in her. He sees the fire of the revolutionaries. He sees a love of danger and adventure. He sees a hatred for authority and the upper class. He sees them.
Jasper is the son he never had. He does not hold his two daughters against Adeline, though he would trade Cécile for Jasper any day. Still, he is content to have Jasper as a son-in-law. That means Odette can be happily married to him, and Jasper can still inherit his fortune. Jasper is his true equal partner. Jasper knows how dangerous the world is. Jasper is his chosen heir.
||♔|| Historic Overview ||♚||
[Early Life] Émeric Adolphe Leblanc was the only son of Lucian and Aurélie Leblanc. Born in 1781, several years before the beginning of the revolution, the beginning of his life was a happy one. Despite having an arranged marriage, his parents were deeply in love, and he was the centre of their universe. His every need was seen to, his every desire granted, and he knew no sorrow.
[Childhood] His life changed forever when his parents began to hear whispers of revolution. They loved their country, but they loved their son more. By this time, he had formed a very strong bond with his betrothed, Giselle. She was born the same year he was to his father's best friend, and promised to him instantly. The two were now best friends. Émeric's parents were determined to flee the country and save their son before the revolt began. Émeric, however, did not wish to leave Giselle. Émeric's parents tried to convince their friends to flee with them, but they would not hear of it. They believed the action to be cowardly. They would not flee from revolutionaries. They would fight, and win. They even told Émeric's parents that if they did not do the same, their son would not marry their daughter. They know how much Émeric valued Giselle, but they valued his life more. They broke off the betrothal and took their son away to England. They hid in anonymity, hardly ever venturing outside.
[Adolescence](Only if needed) Twelve years after, two years after the end of the revolution, Émeric returned with his parents to France. Their estate still stood, and his parents rejoiced to see it. Émeric, however, was not the same person. He was embittered by the events. As he grew, understanding hardened him. He too was angry that he had been forced to flee the place he loved. The longer he stayed in France, the more he learned. People he loved had died. Cousins, friends...and worst of all, his future family. Giselle's parents had fought. Giselle had been captured as a means of getting her parents to surrender. Then they had all been executed together. His parents, wanting him to move on, quickly betrothed him to another. Slowly, his wounds began to heal.
[Adulthood](Only if needed) Émeric was married to the beautiful Adeline. He grew to love her, though he never quite got over Giselle. She gave him two children, one he loved and one he hated. One reminded him very much of Giselle, and as he loved her best, he honoured his parents through her as well. He befriended another family and pledged his daughter to their son. Since his return to France, he had also been making charitable visits. His parents thought it would appease the poor and earn their favour. He doubted it, but he did it mostly to honour them. He has had many run-ins with criminals, some worse than others, and over the years he has built up a hatred for them.

Odette Aurelie Giselle Lucienne Leblanc -- daughter, living
Cécile Adelaide Juliette Laure Leblanc -- daughter, living
Adeline Esmée Marguerite Belle Leblanc -- wife, living

[Friends] Émeric is good friends with Jasper Beachene and the rest of his future in-laws. He also has many other friends, allies and acquaintances of the upper class. He is also very friendly towards Amelie, despite her lower station, because of the role she plays in his favourite daughter's life.
[Enemies] Émeric has made many enemies over the years. Some are obvious, and some are less so.
[Other] Émeric and his children are the only remaining Leblanc's. His parents are now dead, as are the rest of his family. Most of them were killed during the revolution.

[Appearance]

[Details]
{Eyes} Like her sister's, Cécile's eyes are the windows to her soul, betraying her every emotion. However, her eyes tell a much darker story. One would expect brown eyes to be warm, but Cécile defies this stereotype. Her eyes are rarely warm. Instead, they burn with passionate feeling, and those emotions are often negative ones.
{Hair Colour} Her hair is a few shades lighter in colour than her eyes. Not quite a light brown, but not dark brown either. The colour sits in the middle of the shade spectrum.
{Hairstyle} Cécile's hair is often styled in a braided bun. However, she rarely ever bothers with the fancy decorations that her sister adorns her hair with. She is, however, very fond of hats, and she will on occasion add accessories to her hair if those accessories are darker in colour. She only wears such hairstyles when she is out in public though, or when she knows that there will be a guest in the house. Unlike the rest of her family, Cécile does not see the point of having perfect hair, or dressing impeccably, simply to spend time in her room. When alone in her chambers, or even when wandering the house, she leaves her hair long and loose. When in a particularly rebellious mood, she even comes to dinner with her hair unstyled, tumbling in loose waves to her hips.
{Skin tone} Cécile shares her sister's blemishless snowy complexion.
{Imperfections} She does not follow her the same rigorous skincare regime than her sister does, so she gets facial blemishes more often than Odette. However, the slaves cover such imperfections with make-up, when they can get her to keep still long enough for them to do this. When she has physical disputes with her father, her skin will redden for a while, but no scars have been left from such incidents. She does, however, have a birthmark in the shape of a star.
{General Dressing style} Cécile dresses often in dark colours, or occasionally in jewel tones. She tends to prefer a simpler style of dress compared to the more elaborate style of her family, though all of her outfits are elaborate because she does not have access to simple clothes. She thinks the darker colours suit her personality, though.
||♔|| Personality Traits ||♚||
[Fears/Phobias]
Cécile definitely fears something. But she's not quite sure what it is. She knows that she isn't afraid of her father, yet when they argue, sometimes she feels dread rising in the pit of her stomach. Sometimes, she wonders if it is losing him forever that she truly fears, but that makes no sense to her because she has hated him for a long time now. Then if it is not the man himself she fears, could it be the influence he has over her sister? She watches Odette, and in Cécile's eyes, the girl seems almost brainwashed, unable to make a single decision for herself. And that terrifies her more than anything. Losing her independence, losing the ability to think for herself, not being able to make decisions on her own. Perhaps, the truth is, as frustrating as being the unloved child is, it's even more frightening to be the beloved. Her sister scares her. Everything that her sister represents, and that their father and her betrothed has trained her to, is terrifying to Cécile. Cécile stands for bravery and independence, she wants to have the right to say what she thinks and make her own decisions and live her own life without anyone holding her down. She wants the same for all women, but watching her sister, she sees just how easy it is to get manipulated.
[Likes]
Cécile loves the stars. She was born with a birthmark of a star, so she has always felt a special connection to the stars. She watches them endlessly, allowing them to form patterns that give her messages. The patterns tell her things. Sometimes, she thinks she sees messages written in the stars. Sometimes, she sneaks out at night, simly following where the stars lead her. She is also very fond of animals, and of children. She loves stories, too, and sometimes she secretly listens outside the door while her sister tells stories to Amelie. She also has a brilliant imagination, and tells stories to her own slaves. She also loves interesting people, and has quite a few friends outside her class. Cécile also enjoys intelligent conversation and friendly debates. With her, not all arguments have to be nasty, though the arguments she has with her family often are. Of course, she also loves dark colours and reading (mostly dark colours). She enjoys going to the theatre, too. It's one of the few things she and her family have in common.
[Dislikes] She dislikes people who try to force their opinions on her, and also people who try to control the lives of others. She dislikes snobs, and also people who she perceives as weak, which means she dislikes her sister most of the time. Quite a lot of things annoy her, really. It would take all day to list them all.
[Personality] Cécile isn't who you think she is. People think she's a curse to the Leblanc family name (well, most of the upper class, anyway), but that may not be true. She loves children, animals and most other people, as long as they aren't snobs, idiots, or do anything else to annoy her. She does a lot of work for charity, but does much of it discretely so that nobody will know it was her, as she does not want the limelight. Unusually -- and controversially -- she treats all her slaves as equals, and encourages them to think for themselves and express their opinions to her.
Many people, including her own family, disapprove of her because of her fiery and rebellious spirit. She has many views and opinions that, according to society, she simply should not have. She is too strong-willed, and many see that as a problem. Particularly her father. She was strong willed as a child, and because he grew to favour her more docile sister, she began to resent him, and that resentment turned to hate when she realized just how deep his control over Odette went. In her mind, it was brainwashing. Fearing that she would lose her own mind and independence, Cécile lashed out, and has been lashing out ever since. She lashes out at everyone who confirms to the norm, and does what her father wants. However, she is a friend to everyone that is different, and to all those who are not accepted. Cécile is not good, nor is she bad. She is simply a girl with a big heart, filled with passion. She has hopes and dreams, love and hate, thoughts and feelings. There's definitely more than one side to her.
||♔|| Historic Overview ||♚||
[Early Life] Cécile was the first born daughter of Émeric and Adeline Leblanc. Her parents soon began to notice that she was not their ideal daughter. She was too fiery, too adventurous, and as soon as she gained the power of speech, far too outspoken. This curious, adventurous girl was not to Émeric's liking at all, and Adeline was horrified by some of the things that her daughter said, and some of the questions that she asked. Soon, they welcomed another child into the world, again a daughter, and she behaved exactly as a daughter should, relieving her parents. They began to ignore Cécile, leaving servants to care for her.
[Childhood] Cécile watched as her father began to 'work' on her sister, who was already meek enough to begin with. To make matters worse, Odette's betrothed, who was not much older than her, was doing the same thing as well. It made Cécile angry, as she thought it was brainwashing. She thought her sister ought to have been given the opportunity to develop her personality naturally, without all this coaxing and emotional blackmail and bribery. Cécile continued to be ignored, until she began objecting to her father's methods. She started causing trouble, and this forced her parents to pay attention to her again, but in a negative way. She hoped that it would take some of the attention away from Odette at first, and that this would give her a way to develop normally. But Cécile soon discovered that the hurtful things her father was saying and doing to her was making her hate him all the more now, and this war was now continuing because she wanted revenge for herself, too. Because she was angry about being ignored and cast aside. Because she should have a right to have opinions. And then she became angry at Odette, and started to resent and hate her too. Why wasn't Odette fighting with her? Didn't she want the right to have opinions? Was she really happy just doing everything their father said, keeping silent, never answering back? Odette came to represent everything Cécile loathed, and she began hating her entire family.
[Adolescence](Only if needed) By this time, Odette was just as much an enemy to her as her father was. The two fought frequently, though in different ways. Cécile unleashed her fury with her words, and sometimes she left cruel poems for Odette to find, or put slimy things in her sister's bed. Meanwhile, Cécile was well aware of the fact that her sister had now learned to use her position as their father's favourite to her advantage, so that she would have the upper hand in their war. She had to admit, she was proud of her. Her sister was more intelligent than she had given her credit for.
She started having the dreams when she turned thirteen. Dreams of a new world, a beautiful world, a world of freedom and equality for all classes and genders, where there were no slaves and masters, no women and men. Just people, all family, united as one. The flame of rebellion was lit in her heart, but she didn't act on it. She was thirteen. And she had her own battle to fight.
[Adulthood](Only if needed) Cécile is still trapped in the home she calls a prison (even though she knows how to escape, through a secret passage which she uses to leave disguised as a peasant so that she can go out, do things and make friends without people judging her). However, she has heard whispers that her father is planning to betroth her, and this is worrying. She has no intention of marrying, but her father doesn't know that, and she still hasn't been able to get through to her sister. Their fighting's gotten worse, so bad that she doesn't believe Odette would ever believe she was trying to help her.
[Family]
{Mother} Adeline Leblanc
{Father} Émeric
{Siblings Odette Leblanc
[Friends] She is friends with many slaves, as well as many people from the lower class. However, the people who she has befriended outside of her own home do not know who she truly is. They believe they have befriended a peasant girl named Brigitte.
[Enemies] Her father is her main enemy. Her mother, by association, is also an enemy. She considers her sister an enemy now, as Odette has come to represent all that she despises, though she also mourns for her sister, and secretly wishes that she could reach out to her. As her father's accomplice, Jasper is also her enemy.
[Other] Like her sister, she is able to paint, draw, play instruments and sing (though she is a mezzo-soprano). However, she cannot embroider, nor does she wish to. She also rides well, and now knows self-defense and how to use a weapon, as one of her new friends taught 'Brigitte' these skills in exchange for her teaching them how to read.

{[Archard Fremont Bon Lindet]}
► Age~43//►Male//►Eyes~ Blue//►Hair~ Brown//►Height~ six foot three inches//{la apparence}{historie}
{Early life} Archard was born the third son in a noble family, albeit not the type that didn’t have to worry about money. Archard’s father did his best to both keep money flowing in and act respectably enough to keep him in the French court. When the French Revolution came about, his family fled to Belgium, where Archard’s father, penniless, set up a merchant business. By the time Napoleon came into power, Archard was born and the family moved back to their French country home on the money his father collected in Belgium. His father’s titles were re-awarded him, thanks to an old friend who happened to know Napoleon on a friendly level. With money, Guillame managed to stay aloof from the political pendulums shaking his country.
{Childhood} Archard was always a smart lad, taking his father’s lessons of hard work and craftiness to heart. There was a considerable gap in age between him and his older brothers, so he often played alone, catching wild animals and making pets of them. He adored his older siblings, the lazy, foppish Guillame Jr. and the athletic Maximillian, although he was far closer to Maximillian. Max, a through Bonapartist, had his own ideas on politics, though, and often got into arguments with his neutral,
pacifist father.
But his father risked everything on one voyage to the West Indies and lost. The family was back to its poor state. The chateau was
turned into a working farm.
{Adolescence} At a certain point, things came to a head- and Maximilian ran away to join Napoleon's army. Archard was not as polarized as his brother, but certainly cared more about politics than his father. But none of it mattered at the moment- it was time for Archard to attend university, but his older brother Guillame was the only one with the money to do so. Archard begged his brother, who cared nothing about his education, to let him have some of it- he would pay back later. But Guillame wanted to be out from under his father’s extracting and hard-working thumbs, and decided university couldn’t be that bad. Guillame Jr. wasted all his money while in Paris, and returned a year later with a pack of debtors on his heels. His father, disgusted and angered, told him to get lost. He would pay for none of it. Guillame Jr. managed somehow to make it to a friend in Prussia, who paid his debts and set him up as- of all things- a grocer. With two sons disgraced, all Guillame Sr’s hopes were on Archard. And Archard would not disappoint. Although forced to work for most of his tuition, Archard always kept up the best grades and a decent reputation.
{Adulthood} At age twenty, Archard met the girl of his dreams- a poor seamstress’ apprentice. This was the girl he wanted for his lifetime companion- but his father nearly shook down the chateau with his NO!!! His third son must marry up- not down! Archard was deeply torn- marry the girl he loved or follow his father’s wishes and lead the life of a respectable aristocrat? When away from the girl, Archard told himself he would find someone else and either leave her or do as his father advised- taking her as a mistress- when with her, he knew he could never do such a thing to his treasure. When his mother and only ally died, Archard was shattered. After reading the letter, he spent the night walking Paris. As the dawn broke, he found himself at the door of his beloved’s apartment. He poured out his heart to her, the only one who now understood him. It was now that their relationship took a more intimate turn, and a year later they had a son, Enjolras. The poor couple inhabited a small apartment on the poor part of town, and three years later, Archard finally made his way through university, becoming a lawyer. One night he came home to find Jeanette desperately ill. She died soon after, along with their unborn child. He was now completely lost. Taking his son and only delight, he went back to his father’s chateau. His father earned enough from the respectable farm to restart his respectable merchantry, and before long the family- what was left of it- was in good fortunes once again.
This left the still-young Archard with chances at marrying up once again. When Enjolras was six, Marianne stumbled into his life. By this point, to help his matchmaking plans along, his father insisted on sending Enjolras to a classy Paris boarding school, as the “son” of the “dead” Maximilian. Marianne was the carefree, kind, and vivacious youngest child in the de l’Aubespiene family. At the time, there were few families with the same rich history as the de l’Aubespienes - they were purebred dukes and duchesses for hundreds of years back. What is more, Marianne fell in love with him- sad, withdrawn, horribly broken him, and pulled him back into society. Within a year they were wed. Marianne and her family were devout Huguenots and most respectable- a illegitimate son would null the chances of their uniting. So Enjolras melted away into Paris, his father visiting his “nephew” often. Sometimes he wondered why he had ever told Enjolras he was his son. The information was too dangerous, the pain inflicted on his son too great- but he felt he had too. A year later, Marianne gave birth to their only child- Nechole. She grew up too fast, and was a carbon copy of her beautiful mother, Marianne. The only marks he left upon their daughter was his height and large-boned frame- and those were perhaps not the best gifts.
Right after Nechole’s sixteenth birthday, Marianne was killed in a riding accident. He was not riding with her, but Nechole was. It was terrible enough for him to see his beloved’s deformed body. He has hated horses ever since. A few months later, after the funeral, he wrote Enjolras a letter asking him to return. Nechole found this, and his deepest secret was out.{personalite}
Archard tries not to show his emotions, and is generally a quiet person. He is forceful and intelligent, shrewd and hard-working, and a stout royalist. He stresses easily, but never loses his head, always having a plan for worst-case, best-case, and expected scenarios. He refuses to be caught off guard. He believes in his superiority, probably because he was superior to most people in his life. As his son becomes more involved in the revolution, he gets agitated far more easily. Although he has now morphed into the stereotype of an aristocrat, there was a time when he loathed the conventionality- and perhaps a fragment of that stays with him still.{aime}-peace-

(best picture I could find, he doesn’t look that old!)
Maximillian is the tallest of the Bon Lindet family- which, in turn, is one of the loftiest families in France. With such an asset, along with his military training, he is the image of command, a walking fortress that none but the bravest approach. He has the same piercing blue eyes as his brother, except his are mellowed with kindness, not inner turmoil. His once dark brown hair is now mostly white, but nearly as thick as ever. He is strong and browned from his years in the field and mountains. He takes good care of his appearance, and although he is now quite poor, his clothes are just as neatly brushed (and mended) and he is always clean-shaven.
P E R S O N N A L I T É
Maximillian is one of those rare specimens, a family man without a family. Since he has disowned his own- and vice versa- and never had any in his marriage, he has adopted all children. Their company is what he prefers. On the other hand, his years as a general have made him ridiculously bossy and occasionally sharp. He has spent all his life in the outdoors, and learned to be quiet when necessary, but enjoys good conversation. Thinking more than acting on impulse, his exhaustive planning of every day is reminiscent of his younger brother’s, over whom he had great influence. He, though a general, dreams of a utopia without war- a utopia flying the Tricolor. The pain of his father disowning him was minor compared to the pain of his country doing the same.forces— understandingfaiblesses

As a child, Maximillian was always curious and bright. His family relations started straining when he was around ten- right before Archard was born. Gulliame Jr. and he’s interests had split enough that they were no longer friends, and they became rather spiteful to each other. Guilliame put off university, while Maximillian pushed through. Already their father was becoming disgusted in his oldest son, and Maximillian reveled in his favoritism.
But it didn’t last long. In university, Maximillian became a Bonapartist, and his political views began reflecting in his choices- and they weren’t always the most profitable. As his adoring younger brother looked on, Maximillian’s rift with his father grew, until he left to join the army. It was a heated, unplanned decision- the type Maximillian resolved never to make again- but he never regretted it. The news that he was disowned and considered dead did not faze him in his quest for glory under his Emperor. He sprinted up the ranks as fast as paperwork would allow, and as Napoleon waned, Maximillian waxed- he became a general in the dying days of an empire. Now he knew his Emperor. And he was not certain he liked what he saw. Though his military moves were expert, his career would always be tainted by fighting for a dying empire, and on the day he was forced to surrender, disillusionment seized his soul.
But nothing could control Maximillian for long. Though exiled from his beloved country, with a fallen idol and not a soul to turn to, the Bon Lindet industriousness soon surfaced. He took up residence in Switzerland- as close to the French border as he could get- and worked for a while as a mountain guide. Before long, he had a small shop running, a plump, friendly, little wife, a horde of schoolchildren who daily mobbed him for candy, and a lovely niece goddaughter, his wife’s sister’s child. He kept his fire alive, though, often going on hikes that just happened to detour into France, where he picked up news. One day the news arrived that he was welcome back- a friend from his soldiering days, General Lamarque, had returned to an influential position after his exile and was busy securing returns for other disillusioned generals out paying time for a man they had grown to dislike. It was a bad time for glad tidings, though. Elline had just died, he had many things to straighten out besides his own loss. Bit the second the chance arrived, Maximillian set out for Paris- burning with hope, but poor in goods. He’s given the shop away to his wife’s family. When he arrived in Paris, he found his old friend was on his deathbed, a monarchy back in full swing, and, as he filed for his passport- he had a son?!
Must be some poor thing of Guilliame’s, he thought. How terribly wrong he was.

Nechole takes after her mother, with the same lively hazel eyes and thick brown hair. Her thoughts can never be disguised, for not only is her face expressive in the extreme, but the shade of hazel in her eyes varies with her moods. Their normal bright hazel shows she is likely in happy equilibrium. When pale blue, Nechole is probably stressed or exhausted, perhaps frightened. A greener shade denotes anger or excitement, and when they are more brown, she is likely feeling sympathetic and motherly. She is tall above the average, with a frame to match- which often makes her feel awkward. She alternates between a strange grace of nobility and extreme clumsiness.
P E R S O N N A L I T É
Nechole is a strange creature, almost unearthly in her variety. For though one moment she is a laughing child, the next she may be an passionately angry woman, and the next calm and reasoning. Possibly the best three words to describe her would be "a feisty dreamer." She loves without thinking, for love is all she has ever known. Every man is her brother. She would do anything for someone she loves, but teasing is just as sure a mark of her affection. She was born with her head high, and thus often strikes people as absurdly proud, but it is rare you will find her to be snobbish. Unlike her brother, she is slow do make important decisions, but once her mind is made, it is made until the heavens fall- but she can also be absurdly impulsive, then regret her decisions for ages afterward, for she does not forget.

Nechole was born- thought the only child- to a wealthy family of Provence. She grew up protected and loved, ignorant of the world, and confident in her ability to surmount any obstacle, large or small. She adored her mother and father, was generally obedient, and always smiling. Her father often looked a little sad, often took trips to Paris, and wrote copious amounts of letters, but since her mother viewed this as normal behavior- why shouldn't he have business to attend to?- she did too. Three days after her sixteenth birthday, though, her mother was killed in a riding accident next to her. Nechole had enough to fight through with the haunting memories, when she stumbled across an open letter of her father's-
"Enjolras-
You may come home now. Marianne is dead, and I have no-one to hide from save myself. I miss you dreadfully. If you have gotten over the distaste of my life you proclaimed to me at our last meeting, please come here and make the last years of a tortured man enjoyable. Your sister will love you, I'm sure- I hope you love me somehow, and I dearly love you, so please get over any political divides that press us apart and return!"
It was unfinished, the wet pen lying next to it. Just as she finished it her father walked in, and seeing the uselessness of hiding her knowledge, she confronted him. He revealed that before he had met her mother, he had fallen in love with a maid who had died before he could propose. He claimed he didn't care about the difference in their social levels, and had deeply loved her and the son they had together. He seemed ages older as he told her about the brother she had never met. Still, completely lacking in pity and flooded with anger, she ran away to Paris that night, holding crushed in her hand the letter fragment- with her brother's address. She would determine the type of man he was before letting her father bring him home.

||♔|| Historic Overview ||♚||
[Early Life] The first born to a marriage of convenience, he spent his early life sheltered away from the reality of France. His mother was the daughter of a local respected jeweller in Paris, and his father was the eldest son of shipbuilding company in Marseille who moved to Paris in order to find business partners. His mother had a deep fear of the poor majority and his father a deep displeasure. Leandre’s father was rarely home after his birth, as such he formed a strong, close bond to his mother. This led to a constant teasing of being a “mama’s boy”. However, he viewed his mother as an intelligent woman, who had a much better understanding of finance than her husband.
[Childhood] He attempts to prove himself as the right heir to his family’s wealthy estate. As such, he took up many hobbies such as playing the piano, dancing and engaging in his studies. Leandre adored playing the piano, and was talented at it too. However one day, when he was 12 years old, his family hosted a lavish party with many upper class families. His father asked Leandre to play Amédée Méreaux’s Étude Op. 63 No. 24, a complicated piece which required the pianist's two hands cross over each other simultaneously. Nervous and blinded by his confidence, Leandre accepted. A minute passed after he began the piece where his fingers started tripping over the keys, causing displeasure among the guests. Furious, Leandre’s father took him upstairs, away from the public, and grabbed a wooden cane, slapping it on Leandre’s hand so hard that the wood broken. Since then, Leandre has never touched a piano and focused all his energy on studying and working to inherit the family business.
[Adolescence] A day after his 18th birthday, his father gave him a permanent seat in the board of his company, treating Leandre as an equal in the responsibilities of the business. Much to Leandre’s joy, he thought this meant that all problems were forgotten, and they were for a while. But Leandre still believes he has a lot to prove to his father in order to show him that he is not the clumsy boy he once was. Three years on, he still struggles under the pressure of his father’s gaze.

Birth Details

{Place of Birth} Her mother gave birth to her in her family's enormous residence.
||♔|| Physical Appearance ||♚||
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm...
[Details]
{Eyes} Odette's eyes are the windows to her soul. A haunting shade of grey, they appear silver in some lights.
{Hair Colour} Odette has a rather unusual hair colour. Her tresses appear to be as white as the winter snow, but in some lights they take on a silvery glow. When left unstyled, they tumble down her back like a waterfall of moonbeams.
{Hairstyle} Odette's lustrous locks are her pride and joy. The slaves spend hours winding them into elaborate hairstyles, and she probably spends hours admiring her reflection simply to look at her hair. When left loose, which never happens when she is out, it cascades down her back in loose, romantic waves, falling to her hips. However, her hair is almost always up in a very elaborate hairstyle.
{Skin tone} Odette's skin is as pale and unblemished as new-fallen snow, though when she becomes excited about something, is in a particularly good mood, is embarrassed, or is simply exposed to the sun, her cheeks take on a faint rosy flush. Not red, like a tomato, but the slightest, subtlest, most becoming shade of pink creeps into her cheeks.
{Imperfections} If ever she is unfortunate enough to find a blemish on her face, she quickly covers it with the many expensive products that are purchased for her. Great importance is placed on physical beauty in her household, so such imperfections would not do, especially for her father's most beloved daughter. She could not bear to slip from his favour, or to displease her betrothed. She follows a skincare regime religiously, and tries to take good care of herself. That is not to say that the occasional blemish does not appear, but she has the resources to cover them.
{General Dressing style} Odette is one of the most beautifully dressed women in the city of Paris, with a wardrobe fitting of a Princess. In her family's eyes, and the eyes of her betrothed, that is exactly what she is, a little Princess, and she must have the best. She has beautiful gowns, and beautiful shawls, and beautiful cloaks, and all the shoes and accessories to match. Her dressing room is every little girl's dream.
||♔|| Personality Traits ||♚||
[Fears/Phobias]
Odette is absolutely terrified of disappointing, or disobeying, her father. All throughout her childhood, her father has kept her entirely dependant on him, and in need of his approval, which is everything to her. To lose it, to her, would be a worse fate than death. Her betrothed also began using the same tactics as her father, and she has come to look upon him in much the same way, making her also terrified of disappointing him, or disobeying him. She also fears that she will not be the perfect wife, and that she will not be able to meet the high expectations that everyone has set for her. Her father treats her as if she is perfect, and she likes to believe that she is, but sometimes...sometimes she doubts it.
She also fears criminals. Her father, over the years, has built a strong fear of criminals, and crime, into his daughter. Unknown to her, this was all a part of his way of keeping her dependant, and it has worked. She listens to all that he says, and unlike her sister never leaves the house unaccompanied. Her father has managed to make her terrified of the outside world, and the horrors that lay beyond the safety of their luxurious residence. Perhaps it is because of his own fears that he has done this. Of course, she has the typical fears, those that most women in arranged marriages have. When she grows older and begins to lose her looks, will her husband still want her? Will she be able to give him a son? Will her marriage be a success? And then there are the slighter, more childish fears. Spiders and other creepy crawlies, and other such things. But then there are the nightmares she has sometimes, terrible dreams of bloodshed and carnage. She does not know where they come from, or what they mean. Her sister tells her that their Father put them there with all his silly talk of evil and sin and danger. Now she fears the darkness, and she fears the shadows, and sometimes she thinks she hears whispers in the dark trying to warn her of something. It does not happen often, but when it does, it frightens her.
[Likes] Odette takes pleasure from the typical feminine things. Beautiful dresses, lovely hairstyles and presents. But she also has a deep need for compliments, and so takes far more pleasure from them than the ordinary person, though she pretends not to. She is not egotistical, not really. She simply has a deep need for approval. She also has a love of tea, and of reading. With reading comes writing, and a great love of stories and creating them, though she never thinks the stories she creates are any good. She loves writing letters to her friends and hearing all the local gossip. She finds it exciting, and she finds that it gives her good material to use in her writing, though she is always sensitive and changes the names, and hardly anyone reads them anyway. She loves music, both making and listening to it, as well as the theatre. She spends quite a lot of time at the theatre, so much so that her family have their own private box. She also loves to embroider, as well as paint and draw. She finds that it relaxes her, and she can express herself through the things that she creates. She tends to be much better at communicating her feelings through stories and art than through her own words, probably out of fear that some of her thoughts, and feelings, are wrong.
[Dislikes] Odette dislikes...her sister, mainly. She does not understand Cécile at all. Cécile's behaviour confuses her, frustrates her, saddens her and angers her, and she is not accustomed to feeling anger. Still, anger seems to be a common emotion for her when it comes to Cécile, though she tries to contain it. She dislikes Cécile's way of thinking and behaviour, because she has been taught that it is wrong. Still, Cécile can be rather cruel to her, and she dislikes cruelty to innocents. She tends to operate on a 'punish the guilty and spare the innocent,' type of mindset, which is why crime upsets her so much, because she does not understand why any person would want to wrong another. Of course, she also dislikes ugly clothes, but really, how could she not?
[Personality] Odette is a very difficult person to explain. On the surface, she seems simple. Just a beautiful girl with pretty clothes and a doting father who gives her all that she could ever want. But look closer. Have you ever noticed how that father seems a little too protective? Have you ever noticed how very close her father and her betrothed really are, almost like they're...working together? And what about her sister, Cécile? People think she's just a brat, a thorn in the family's side, the one imperfection in Odette's otherwise perfect life. Could there be more to her, too?
Odette's eyes are the windows to her soul. They betray her emotions, even when her words do not. Her words are almost always what they ought to be. She confides her true feelings in only a trusted few. Surprisingly, one of these few is a slave by the name of Amelie, who also happens to be one of her closest friends. As Amelie has helped care for her for many years, it is easy to see how a bond has developed between them.
Odette is exactly what her father wants her to be, a docile, dutiful daughter, demure and deferential, meek and malleable. She is respectful to those of a higher status than her and able to identify who they are. She is mindful of the social ladder, and has learned it well. She treats those of an equal status with friendliness, and those of a lower status with kindness, though she is aware of their differences. As her betrothed has been in her life since infancy, she knows him well. One would think that he would be like a brother to her, but it was always made clear that he is not her brother, but rather her future husband, and she always accepted this, and reminded herself of it. As she grew, she was able to feel romantic feelings for him. Or, at least, she thinks so. She has never known anyone else, as she is entirely loyal to him. Even when they were children, he had authority over her, as he was her future husband, and now he has more than ever. She accepts this, and is just as deferential to him as she is her father. Fortunately for her, the two never disagree, and are almost like family. She could never stand to see the two men she loves most argue, as she has come to adore her betrothed.
What she does not realize, however, is that she is not entirely her own person. She thinks what they think, feel what they feel. She never had a chance to make up her own mind. Perhaps she would think exactly the same way, but perhaps she would not. Her situation is actually quite a complicated one.
Odette is a contradiction. She is a naive idealist, who chooses to believe the best in everyone she meets. However, her father has installed a terrible fear and hatred of criminals in her, and of all people he does not approve of. She tends to trust most people until she is given a reason not to, or unless her father tells her not to, or her betrothed does. To her, their word is everything. There are many subtle complexities and complications, but a person would have to look very hard to find them. Odette projects an aura of perfection to most, as she believes it necessary. Especially with her sister being the way she is, she believes that her father deserves one decent daughter. But she believes that her dreams mean something. She wants to know what it is, and at the same time, she just wants to ignore it all, get married and live happily ever after, like she's supposed to.
