Rusty's Ghost Engine (also known as.......... Jinky Spring) When the fence was first mentioned in this book I've got to admit I couldn't stop thinking of it throughout. Has anyone else felt the same?

A Yes I CAN'T WAIT FOR ALLEGIANT!!!

Xandra totally. this series is one of my faves and the suspense is killing me. (not literally, thank Godith.)

((Savanha)) Beyond the fence is District 12!!!! Lol but I honestly think it's like another civilization, just a normal one. One without crazy factions.

chinami I guess chaos, poverty, misgovernment, oppression and death.

■©atherine■ Well, I'm sure I want to know what is there beyond the fence. But not really that curious. I'm expecting some horrible things and ready to accept whatever it's. Nothing good I guess.

Aliza i think it's gonna be the normal world we live in

Now that would be really funny.

And everyone outside the fence just thinks that within there's a crazy cult that they all want to avoid.

Tanvira Considering the entire plot of Divergent was set in Chicago, I'm guessing that Edith Prior(i think that'a her name) spread her influences of no one being the same but everyone still living together as a normal group without factions. They'd probably be somewhat like Chicago but mainly like our normal life, like how our life has a bunch of Dauntless/ Amities/ Abnegations/ Eruditea/ Candors, but we learn to live by them. That kind of thing. That's what my theory is anyways. But I'm pretty sure all of the people outside the gates are the factionless trying to form a new life the way I mentioned earlier. meh, guess we'll have to wait and see...

Patrina Wheeler Well ive watched the film and im currently reading the first book, but from what i know they lock the gate from the outside and tris makes a point of saying they want to keep something in, and in the films the land outside is wasteland for as far as you can see, but the amity farm outside their so its possibly not as dangerous as youd expect it to be. In a normal world people like the dauntless who can go beyond the farms must be told not to talk about what they see incase people begin conspiracys or rebellions. So maybe all thats beyond the wall is far off citys that may be without factions and people dont have to choose one of five places or even end up factionless. So maybe the old government leaders didnt want to let their people become aware of the alternative life they could have and so they lock the gate so people dont leave to explore and they only let amity out but under supervision of dauntless because in the first film and book the dauntless where helping the erudite kill abnegation's, so they would help keep people from blabbing, by murder. I might have another theory after ive read 2 and 3

hahaha that was crazy lol

Mya Yes. I think there is another bunch of people who didn't like how things were runed and some fractionless people too.

Brittany You're led to believe that something happened where the people within the walls need protection. What if the people on the other side of the wall had to restart civilization without the rules/structure you find within the walls. It could be various groups of people scattered all around the world just rebuilding their idea of a perfect civilization- some being better and kinder than others.

Ashley Yeah I definitely wondered about this. Looking forward to hopefully finding out when I find time to read the rest of the books in the series.

Nathan Dunahoo I read the series, so no spoilers, but what is beyond the fence is one of the most dramatic parts in the whole series.

It looks like caste system in India where people were divided on the basis of work. The notion was that talent is hereditary which it is, but due to heterozygous people with half talented genes and half untalented genes and only one type was expressed. So, there was no way to know exactly. This led to intelligent people getting to lower caste as their ancestors were unintelligent and vice versa. And due to unintelligent parents, these children wouldn't get resources to get educated and hence remained lower caste and so on....

I'm not sure "dramatic" is the right word. "Anticlimactic" would work better, considering the (Allegiant spoilers ahead) (view spoiler).
