I have only vague memories of this book, probably read in the 90's, but not sure.

male scientist wins nobel prize

someone tries to assassinate him

mysterious female assassin somehow related to Catholic church, who has previously assassinated others, including a pornographer

scientist attempts to find Christ's DNA because he thinks it will have healing properties

daughter has a tumor - race with time to find a way to heal her

(view spoiler)[He is given a Church relic - a tooth I believe - and extracts the DNA. There is some sort of climax in an underground chamber, which results in the assassin being killed, but on the third day the body is missing (or something like that). (hide spoiler)]
