Okay everyone it's my last little list of prizes and ideas for books to add to your to-read list. This week's question tips its hat at nominees for the Edgar Award, which is given by the Mystery Writers of America. I'm including the nominees for Best Novel as well as Best First Novel, because I'm one of those readers that sometimes struggles to find new authors.
How many of these books have you read? Which might you add to your to-read list?
BEST NOVEL:
The Lost Ones by Ace Atkins
The Gods of Gotham by Lyndsay Faye
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Potboiler by Jesse Kellerman
Sunset: A John Bekker Mystery by Al Lamanda
Live by Night by Dennis Lehane (WINNER)
All I Did Was Shoot My Man by Walter Mosley
BEST FIRST NOVEL:
The Map of Lost Memories by Kim Fay
Don't Ever Get Old by Daniel Friedman
Mr. Churchill's Secretary by Susan Elia MacNeal
The Expats by Chris Pavone (WINNER)
The 500 by Matthew Quirk
Black Fridays by Michael Sears
I feel like I must be the only one who hasn't read Gone Girl, but it's on my to-read list. I'm also interested in the Kellerman book because I read the Alex Delaware series by Jonathan Kellerman. And I'm also interested in the Dennis Lehane book because, well, his books make great movies (and bad movies too--see: Shutter Island).
